Which should I do?

Listen to the first half in the car
DVR the game, and catch up when I get home (being careful not to get any info over the radio on my home)

I have class until 7 PM tomorrow, then about an hour and  quarter ride home.  That should pretty much chew up the first half.  Should I put myself in the trustworthy hands of Grandy and Max for the ride home, or wait to watch the whole thing on DVR (albeit not live) when I get home?

Very fired up for this one either way.

ps - stopping at a bar and watching the game isn't an option!
Yup

Listen to it on the radio while you're on your way home.  Then when you get home, flip on the live broadcast.

I'd also DVR the game so you can always catch the beginning later on if you want.

My two cents.

I voted listen.

But why not do both?

Listen and watch from the time you get home.  But DVR the game so you can watch back the parts you missed.

I do it all the time.

You can't listen to any of it on the radio. DVR it and watch it from the beginning at home. Just bring ear plugs for the ride and don't make eye contact.

I am an expert at this tactic.  I have successfully gone on dates with my wife during World Series games, RED SOX WORLD SERIES GAMES, and kept in the blind (even going so far as to send my wife into the house first to instruct the baby sitter to not give me any clues if she knows any).

I'm a bit of a DVR junkie, so I may be biased.

I'd stay clear of any updates and just wait til I got home. That's what I always do (although I don't have access to radio broadcasts).

I have even begun purposely waiting like a 30-45 minutes after tip-off to start watching some of the less intriguing regular season games. Avoiding the commercials and the majority of the halftime show is worth not being "live" for the first 3.5 quarters.

+1

Watching a game after it is dvred is in my opinion the best way to watch it. No commercials. You never realize how outrageous all the commercials are until you are able to go an entire game without watching one, or the half time show for that matter.

DO NOT under any circumstances look at your phone during the game. If you need to look at your phone for fear of penalty of death stay away from text or voicemail messages.

You should DVR it, and listen to a CD on the way home.  You should not, under any circumstance, turn on the radio after the game has started.

I have gotten into the habit of starting to watch games half an hour late anyways, so I can fast forward through commercials.  But it is always scary being out in public when you are DVRing a big game, because you never know when someone is going to tell you the score.

I often find myself in similar situations since I teach from 330-930 (PST) most nights; I would recommend DVR'ing the game. Just make sure you avoid your cell phone because I always get texts from ppl during the game or if something big happens. I ignore my phone until I'm done watching the game on DVR.

Another benefit of DVR is that you'll probably finish around the same time if you're just missing the first half. You can skip all the time outs and commercials. You can skip halftime. You can watch just the game and fast forward all the inbetweens. You might even be able to watch the whole game on DVR and catch the end live if things work out right. One of my friends refuses to watch games live. He is very adamant that he starts the games like 45 min to an hour into them, that way you can skip all of the commercials but still see the end live.
