To be picky on the dice, the one with the "3" showing is incorrect, because you can also see a "4" on it.  The "3" and the "4" are actually on opposite sides of the die, as the two numbers on opposite sides always add up to seven.

I don't know, if I was doing a tattoo for a huge celebrity, I'd try to pay attention to detail.  I also think the four-leaf clover is less well done than I'd have expected.

Whatever, if Paul is happy with it, good enough.

You pay amazing attention to detail. TP.

It surprised me to see such a big tattoo on Pierce since his previous one is quite discret but it looks good. On the picture it looks really too big though but we'll see how it looks during games. I like the idea anyway.

I'm pretty sure he has a large tattoo on his whole back. Of course we rarely see it (like Rondo's "RR"). Besides, no forearm tattoo is discrete.

Pretty nice tattoo, why go with a four-leaf clover? He should have went with a Celtics three-leaf.

Or maybe that's supposed to be a five? That lower right dot is toward the middle of the side.

If you blow it up, it definitely looks like a 4.  Even if it was a 5, though, it would be wrong, because it's next to -- rather than on the flip side of -- the 2.  I think the artist just didn't know what a die looks like, and filled in the numbers randomly.

No big deal, though; I almost hope that nobody tells Pierce about it, because if he's proud of his body art, good for him; nobody needs to pick nits.

Wouldn't that have been smarter to do during the offseason?

Does it really matter? Not trying to be a prick or anything.. but come on.

It's ok though. Has anyone seen what his other arm tattoo is? It's usually partially covered by his armband. Just curious.

I'm not saying it's going to affect his season.  It will probably be all healed within a few weeks.  But a tattoo is a wound, and that is a sizeable tattoo on his shooting arm.  When you have guys scratching and clawing at you during a game, or even practice, it just seems like something you wouldn't do a few days before the start of the season.

A script tattoo like that with mostly all black... that’ll take no time to heal.

I like it.

I guess Pierce could probably just have it altered, so the dice could end up being black, and the eyes could be white  ;)

Good observation, though, I hadn't noticed at first.

I'm surprised he chose one that's basically impossible to cover, since he usually makes a point of covering his others (at least when he's playing).

But then, the other tattoos seem to have been about reclaiming his body and dealing with a traumatic experience. I remember him saying he got the big one on his back when the scars from his stabbing were still pink:

The one on his other arm is also stabbing related... it has a dagger through a basketball and says "my gift, my curse." He sometimes has a modified version on his shoes:

So in a way it's nice that he now has a "happy" tattoo... just celebrating his career and identity as the longtime heart of the last team he ever expected to join.

I think Nate got a tattoo twice during the season/playoffs last year.

Just for argument's sake  :)
