just saw this on ESPN, Mike Miller hurt his hand in practice and could be out for a few weeks.

Looks like the much anticipated game against Miami is gona start with a few players hurt already: D West, JO, Wade, and Miller.

any news if West and JO will play in the opener?

Mike Miller has looked very poor physically in pre-season. It looked like his athleticism was fading badly. He was carrying a few knocks (small injuries) but I wonder if that was all that was bothering ... or if his body is starting to break down.

Worth keeping an eye on throughout the season.

Haha.

West can't play btw.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

If he's hurt or ineffective this season that's a very big blow to the heat.

bring on those heat injuries!

in all seriousness, it is unfortunate for the Heat that Miller is already hurt, however, he is a pretty fragile player. He is great role guy if he can stay healthy, but as he is getting older and adding mileage to his rep, that is a big if.

Doc said he wasn't sure how much JO would give them opening night. So judging by that, I would see he is probable, but likely limited.

Huge.  They need some kind of consistent scorer off the bench - Eddie can get it done in streaks but just doesn't have the ability to keep it going anymore.

Not really.  I never understood the Heat making Miller a top priority, given that they've already got two of the top 10 players in the league in the same spots Miller would play.

Miller would have fit better with Boston, who will be looking to rest Ray and Pierce as much as possible.  But in Miami, Wade and LeBron are going to be playing major minutes in any close game, with Miller getting most of his playing time in blow out wins or losses.

The key reserve for Miami is Haslem.  If he goes down, the Heat frontcourt becomes Bosh and a bunch of stiffs.

Miller gives them spacing. It's a huge blow!

Losing Miller is a decent blow to the Heat.  Part of me is kind of amused by all their little injuries and court cases, but I think I would prefer to have them at full strength for the opener and a while after that.  I want to judge them at 100%.

Eddie and James Jones give you the same spacing as Miller and for a lot less than 5 million dollars a year.

  • Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft
I think JO will play in the first game. However if he doesn't I believe the Heat's bigs to be so suspect I think Semih can make noise against them.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19
