I read this in SB Nation this morning.  I was surprised (totally shocked is more like it).  It is reported that he want to join an ownership team for the Pistons.  I know Magic is from Detroit, but that was a long time ago.....and he has been associated with the Lakers for half of his life...

Its an interesting choice if its true.  Perhaps he wants more control than he can get with the Lakers.  Frankly, I didn't even know he was an owner.  With the Pistons, he could become the face of the franchise, and would potentially be able to talk his way into a role with some actual power.

He wants to be a majority owner or GM, that's the only reason he'd sell his stake. (well unless he was in a serious cash crunch)

I think he'll investigate Detroit but I wouldn't be surprised if it takes him a few years to find the right ownership group. Especially if he takes Jordan's tack of not wanting to pony up a majority of the capital.

I heard he is investing in the Celtics and that he is also starting up some cannabis shops for the Boston inner city kids called

He has already found a buyer for his Lakers share, and he said he doesn't want to be the majority owner of the Pistons.  In fact, he doesn't want to relocate from California...

Magic has spoken of his interest in buying the Pistons on several occasions in the past. No surprise that he has made this move now.

I hope he manages to buy the Pistons ... that would be great for Detroit. To get an owner committed to that team and that area and someone with Magic's background in basketball as a bonus.

He's lying, I bet he wants in on the Piston's new ownership group.

Otherwise there is no reason to make the move, either that or to become a GM. Which I haven't heard him express interest in before.

Following Bird and Jordan's footsteps.

Going with the place they originally made a name for themselves in.

Instead of the NBA Teams they were most associated with.

I thought the sale of the Pistons to Ilitch was a done deal?

If there's a franchise that needs new ownership, it's the Hornets. Now that the sale of the team to Chouest's group has fallen apart, the Chris Paul Trade Countdown clock moves back to 2 minutes to midnight.

I think its "essentially" a done deal. The ownership group hasn't been finalized from what I've read. Magic's move could still be related to it.

Lakers just won back to back championships. When i read this earlier i just presumed Magic was selling while his stock was high . .
Stay classy, San Diego. Hello, Baxter? Baxter, is that you? Bark twice if you're in Milwaukee. Is this Wilt Chamberlain? Have the decency to say something.

You know, Bird failed in an attempt to buy a club already.  Maybe a Bird/Magic ownership team will succeed.

I think Magic is joining an ownership team that is already in existance.  I haven't seen anything about Bird joining it.

It has been reported that Magic, one day after selling his Lakers holdings, has sold 109 Starbucks fanchises back to Starbucks.   hmmmm....is Magic getting into politics?  retiring to Florida?  Buying a sports franchise?  or just want to  relax in style and have fun?    This has nothing to do with anything, except that it is interesting....

Hmm, if it's true that he doesn't want to relocate from California then perhaps he's buying the Dodgers or an LA NFL team?
