I know I'll get my tp's taken away but I like Howard and hope he keeps working hard on that post game.

I hope he shoots 0-20 when he plays us, but I think he has the drive and physical gifts to master a post game if he keeps at it long term. Tp for the link, enjoyed seeing one of the best teaching the new generation

We don’t have any washed up big men...

Dwight is so annoying with his forced “humor”, it makes me cringe at times.

Correction: that was kindof funny

Hakeem could score 10ppg a night in 25 mpg no problem any day.

Oh come on... Shaq and Jermaine O'Neal aren't washed up?

Shaq: 23min, 12pts, 6reb, 1.2blk, .566 FG%
J.O.: 28min, 13pts, 7reb, 1.4blk, .529 FG%

I don’t know how you feel about that, but those two can hang with anybody in the league.

He scored 7pts per game in 23 minutes per game in his last year in 2000-2001 so I doubt that very much.

Did you watch him that season?  I was one of the biggest Hakeem fans ever (he is the reason I began watching NBA) and I did a lot.  He was still very good, they just never game him the ball.  VC attempted 21.8 FGA per game.  Hakeem averaged over 10ppg every season before that.

Even though he last played 8 years ago, I still think he could score 10 ppg... if he could last 25 min per game that is.  Judging by that video, Hakeem looks like a better offensive player than Dwight.

I was watching an older video like this where Hakeem teaches Kobe how to utilize the 'dream-shake' though this particular video is of far better quality, from both a visual and audio perspective. Dwight is a Center like Hakeem so him receiving lessons on how to post up from Hakeem would probably benefit him more than a guard like Kobe.

Dwight Howard has continued to improve on his post-moves each season and it really showed last season, this being the year after his Orlando Magic lost to the Lakers in five games during the 2009 Finals. As Dwight continues to add different moves to his repertoire he is further establishing himself as a likely candidate to be the most dominant center of his era, barring maybe Pau Gasol and Yao Ming, though I think Howard out-classes both of those guys due to his power, defense and rebounding.

Shaq may still be more dominant than Howard, however Shaquille is in a later stage in his career than Dwight is so even though Shaq might have clear advantages in experience and post positioning Howard still has the advantage of being sort of the 'next-generation' of Shaquille O'Neal having already helped the Magic get to the NBA Finals himself. As long as Dwight Howard is playing center for the Orlando Magic that team will always be a legitimate threat to make it out of the Eastern Conference.

IMHO, Hakeem is the most underrated player of the past 3 decades, if not more. He played in the shadow of other members of his class (Jordan, Barkley, Drexler), but at this point if redrafting that class and taking out the consideration of marketing revenue I'd have to think twice on the #1 pick.

Nah, I don't think he could.  I saw him on Joes v. Pros and he didn't look like he could score 10 ppg in the NBA.

TP!

But, I don't think he is underrated @ all he chooses to stay out of the limelight and live a simple (by NBA standards) life.

He is not on TNT every night running his mouth or dancing on Dancing With The Stars.

He easily eclipsed and dominated his peers Ewing and Robinson.  He also took a young Shaq to school.

I mean Shaq (IMHO) is the only big (from the time frame you specified) you can put ahead of Hakeem.  Duncan is a good debate but (IMHO) I dont even think they are on the same planet.

Hakeem was a freaking BEAST as complete a player as there ever was.

Because he stays out of the spotlight (out of sight out of mind) he tends to get forgotten.  But if you bring up his name to any bball of fan of that era...if they did forget about him, they quickly remember and will agree with how great he was with no argument.

The man was sick best footwork ever.  NBA all time leader in blocks.  Filthy just dam dirty in the post.  Dream Shake unstoppable as the Sky Hook (but so much prettier)  Not only that, but at his size the man could pick your pocket like Rondo can.

If Dwight can actually incorporate these moves Hakeem is teaching in to his game...boy whatever team he is on is gonna be a problem!
