Playoff Trades?

There is a possibility, even a likely hood, that the Celtics will go into the season with the players we have on the roster now. I think it will be a trade after Dec. 15th for the Playoff Run. Only after they know when Perkins can come back and after they evaluate how Harangody and Bradley measure up? Look for Glen Davis, Marquis Daniels or Nate Robinson to be traded along with Von Wafer or Mario West. Perhaps for a "Large" small forward like James Posey of Like Walton or ?.

I agree with the premise here, but not all the details.  I think you have to throw Perk in the group of possible trade chips, as well as Bradley.  Wafer and West on the other hand have little to no trade value, since they are on minimum contracts.  If they actually prove to be valuable players, the C's will likely just hold onto them.

My guess is the main pieces of a trade would be either Davis or Perk (based on a combination of play, and who they think they could resign in the offseason), as well as either Daniels or Nate, depending on how the perimeter rotation shakes out, and whether West is able to pick up more minutes on the wing or at the point. 

I really doubt Bradley and Harangody are going to have much influence on anything outside of Portland this season, unless there are a lot of injuries.

As for targets for trades, here are the guys I think they will be looking at (depending on how things play out on their own teams): Battier, Marvin Williams, JR Smith, Andres Nocioni, Boris Diaw, Jared Jeffries, Francisco Garcia.

I guess Perk is going to be extended, or maybe is just wishful thinking. Perk has value for the team going forward, and I don't see Erden taking his spot in the next 5 years.

Davis, Nate and Daniels, and maybe Erden and Wafer/Mario West could be traded after December 15th, but I don't think it will happen. Bradley and Harangody will spend the season with the Rock Lobsters in Maine, and the real questions will be if Delonte makes Nate expendable, and if JO,KG,Shaq and Perk get all the minutes at the 4 and 5. If both things happen, I could see DA trying to trade Shrek and Donkey to get a long wing player like Francisco Garcia or Battier... even Josh Howard from Washington.

In my opinion, the right trade chance won't happen, and DA will just stay put, or waive a player to make room for Sheed in the playoffs.

Interesting scenario:
If Bradley and West work out as expected, there may be less need for Robinson, which would give the C's an extra 4 million dollar trade chip. If Perk is healthy, a package of nate and Davis could bring back 9,100,000 in salary; If Perk is looking shaky, then he and Nate could be packaged for a team that wants to clear 11,150,000 off their books.

I think a lot of it hinges on how well Marquis Daniels plays.  If he proves he can be an effective backup 3, I'm not sure it's worth trading BBD and the depth he provides given how old all of our big men are.  It's quite possible that even if Perk is healthy that Shaq or JO could go down in the playoffs and leave us in a similar situation as last year. 

Now I think it's worth giving up depth if it's apparent that we need a backup SF.  However, if Daniels is capable at the 3 and West (or Wafer or anyone else) is capable at the 2, unless it's a monumental upgrade, I don't know if we do it.

I think the odds are better of Danny only carrying 14 players down the stretch and picking up a player who gets cut.  One of the unknowns is the financial situation later this year.  The pot of gold might not be filled to the brim...

I dont think Nate's going to get traded... With the way Doc has praised him in practice I think he is going to get a majority of the back up guard minutes.

i would hate to see nate get traded. If Doc is able to harness his energy and talent level and get him playing the right way (which i'm confident has happened in training camp) he could be a monster off the bench.
