thank god.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

With this new policy, the old player dress code, and the ridiculous new technical foul policy, it appears that Stern will have players and coaches in his appropriate desired image.

Now it's time for Stern to portray his officials in an equally appropriate way....

With that in mind, the officials should borrow robes from Ric Flair and have their own introductions and entrance music.  Because they officiate like WWE officials.

I can totally see Lawrence Frank distracting the refs, while Doc bashes Lebron over the head with a folding chair.
Yup

LOL...If they can't see the messiah take 3-4 steps without a dribble right in front of them or see the slightly imposing  Shaq use 2-3 different pivot feet, what's next?  I wouldn't rule anything out.

Only Stern's focus groups know for sure....

You'll know when superstars and the last man on the bench are officiated the same way like in the NFL

I'm not so sure Farve, Manning, and Brady are officiated the same as Brian Hoyer, Jim Sorgi, and Keith Null.

They should make coaches wear the team uniform kjust like in baseball. That would be both funny and disturbing. I've always thought baseball managers look ridiculous wearing the whole team uniform. It's kind of dumb when you think about it.

I also want to add that ridding the world of turtlenecks is a good thing. What an awful trend that was in the 90's. College sweatshirt with matching turtleneck, compliment jeans and shell toes or suede sneaks. I admit i caved to fit in as a teenager but I was sooo uncomfortable.Girlyman clothes! Soooo preppy. I was so relieved when flannel kicked in!

I understand the need to have coaches dress neatly.  If NBA coaches were going the way of the Belicheck style sleeveless hoody, fine, change the rules.  However, SVG dressed neatly and professionally.  Whether he's wearing a button-down or a turtleneck, it doesn't make a difference to me.

It's the same thing with the players' dress code:  I appreciated the fact that the players are given at least some discretion in how they can dress, even if it's significantly more limited than it used to be.  http://www.nba.com/news/player_dress_code_051017.html  For instance, at games, a player can wear designer jeans, a sweater, and a sport coat, if he wants, or he can wear a full suit.  I think coaches should be given similar discretion (except for maybe the jeans).

I think the coaches should all wear leisure suits for their opening game--in a unified act of protest.

I wonder how far Doc had his tongue in his cheek when he said

"I really like Stan's style. I thought Stan really set the bar for the dress code. I think he should stay with that. I think it's nice."

Very true, especially coming from the best dressed coach in the league. TP.
