West, who was re-signed by the Celtics as a free agent early this month, said he is not the same player who spent his first three NBA seasons in Boston.

“I’ve grown, I’ve learned how to win, I’ve added a lot to my game,’’ West said. “I know what I need to do to help a team win. I know who I am out there.

“And I haven’t even reached my prime yet. That, to me, is the scary thing about it. I think Boston got me at the right time.

“I’ve definitely learned the point guard duties, how to get the ball to our guys, and also to slow down a little bit.

“When I started, I was rushing, I always understood the game but I was playing a little too fast. I kind of found my tempo and, like I said, I’ve worked night in and night out to become a complete player. I really don’t have any weaknesses.’’

He is going add so much versatility to our bench with him and Nate being able to divide the PG duties on offense. Neither is a natural PG but together I think they will be able to find a great balance.

Also add a healthy Marquis and we will be excellent defensively at the 1-2-3 positions (in terms of role players).

I personally was a lot more impressed with Delonte's game in Cleveland than when he was previously in Boston.  Either improvement or because we didn't see him as often.  I felt he was one of the better players for them, in Boston he was a role player even when he started.  I still feel he and Nate are redundant when (nate) one of them could be traded for a sf/pf or swing man that we can use more.  Gotta say though look at this bench from top to bottom and ainge has done a really good job!

Seeing Delonte back in a C's jersey puts a smile on my face. Coming into the off-season I never once thought of him as an option for our team. Took me by surprise when he was signed and now I couldn't be happier.

This is one of those Danny Ainge type moves that fly under the radar. I've got a feeling D-West will do some big things for us this year.

I always loved Delonte, he's tough as nails. Very happy to have him back. He'a a scrapper. Got to ahve those guys, they help you win and they also light the crowd up.

If he keeps his head on straight he will be a huge addition to this team. Nate and West - easily the best back ups Ray and Rondo have had. Easily...

Doubt that. Nates more clutch but their pretty close. Once Nates in a rhythm though watch out. He will put points on the board fast. I love Delontes defense, scrappiness, intangibles, and the aforementioned ability to hit big shots though so it will be interesting to see who wins that backup point guard battle. My money is on Nate.

To be honest though I'd really like to see these two guys paired together. I think their games compliment each other fantastically. Nate can run and gun and hit big shots if he's open. Needs to work on his passing though. Delonte can spot up hit shots and play good individual and team D at the two spot. Like Ainge said he's an agitator out there. I'm a big beleiver in those type of guys. The feistiness/scrappiness can get you much needed extra possesions and I love that kinda wild card style he brings. But I feel Nate is that type as well.

I just see our second as very strong and deep but especially when you pair these two together. I expect to see a lot more holding leads and increasing them this year, which was a big weakness for us last year.

Nate only seems clutch because you remember when he hits his shots and not when he is a bust.

Ya kinda like Ray Allen in game 7 right? Gimme a break man players who are considered shooters shoot. They miss some, they hit some. Taking the big shot is their job. I've seen plenty of Nate Robinson in New York and here. The kid is clutch and will hit big shots, given the opportunity. You'll see soon enough guavawrench.

What I like about pairing him with Delonte though is he has this same attribute. He's not scared of taking the big shot and hitting it. So that's makes the pairing of these two together very dangerous.

Your probably not a big Nate guy guava. What can I say? Seems that few are on this board. But just keep your eyes peeled for the little guy. He's easy to miss in stature but I have a feeling we could be singing his praises after a game or two this year. I expect offensive  fireworks.

Glad to hear it!  He does seem really confident.  I'm rooting for Delonte with something a little extra.

Because I feel that West can get away with playing at off guard. I'd prefer he's paired with Nate as well. Nice aggressive duo both offensively and defensively.
