  • GOT IT!!!
Just seems all the talk during off-season, as well as the start of training camp has been mainly about the Lakers and the Heat. Surely people don't think the C's are going to go away quietly into the night? The Eastern Conference goes through Boston.

I think we'll fly under the radar until Shaq bumps his head into it and curses it out in front of all its friends.

If we win games we'll get noticed...but we will be in Miami's PR shadow until they are either shamed and disgraced, or disbanded. Even losing won't keep cameras away Miami. They need to crash and burn or eject before people will stop paying attention to them more than anyone else in the league.

I think us going under the radar is the best thing for this team. If we beat Miami on opening night the commentators will focus on how Miami lost not on how we beat them.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Maybe I haven't been following things closely enough to notice but there doesn't seem to be much publicity for any team outside of Miami heading into the season.

All is quiet on Chicago and Orlando too. And Atlanta. The Lakers got some attention but nobody else in the West has gotten much.

Good post and yes, I think we will fly under the radar. Which is odd as we actually have more combined star power and star power that comes with more class, merit and good will than what you have in Miami.

Miami is NBA pop culture. Boston is where the real dogs eat.

Wade, LeBron and Chris Bosh ( Chris Bosh...really? )
vs.
Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, Shaquille O'Neal and Rajon Rondo.

We have four legendary, proven hall of fame players and another in Rondo, who was arguably much better than Wade or LeBron in last year's playoffs and the year before that...

Miami has Bosh, who's never done anything, Wade who's won one ring, with Shaq... and LeBron who is preening adolescent moron who lacks the real heart, class and character that define the great ones like KG, Bird, Magic, Jordan, Duncan, Russell, West, Durant etc...Yes, Durant.

But we will fly under the radar up until we win #18, and even then as someone else said, it will be how the other team lost, rather than how we dominated them.

Chris Webber said (today on NBATV) he thinks they are the most underated team in the league and that he thinks that they are the team to beat and will be in the finals!

I don't think we need to win opening night.  However, i think if we DO beat the Heat opening night, it will send a HUGE message to the league, and also put a lot of pressure on the Heat in the media circus that will be following them.

And if they win opening night...people will crown them the champs then and there!

Completely agree tp! It's should be extra incentive the fact it kills two birds with one stone. By us sending a message with the win. And also putting early media-spotlight pressure on a team that in my opinion is at risk to implode at any time in some bizzare way due to personalities and petty dramas.

However I also agree with evantime34 that it will first be portrayed by the media as how they lost. Not how we won. We are not media darlings and I love that. The win however will be a warning to other teams and players. I love how we are seen as the underdoggs and bullies similar to the pistons of the 80's. Those tough defense no nonsense basketball teams can be fun to watch for the purists and many other observers. The fact we have a free flowing point guard just adds to the watchability and most nights point spread in a positive manner which are two things that make basketball really fun to watch.

There is SO much hype with Miami through media (espn etc) that I don't think they realize there are other teams in the nba.  To me its lakers and celtics.  I grew up watching celtics, drink green cool aid as its put here and to me we are by far the best team in the nba.
flying under radar yeah, a healthy kg trumps a "king"
