1.  Chess (though O love it, it's not my favorite, but it has to be considered the best)
2.  Scrabble (love it, but the silly Scrabble Dictionary allowable words are a bit much)
2A. Backgammon (derr, I forgot and had to go back and add in)
2B.  Cribbage (really just a card game with a board used to keep score).
3.  Monopoly
4.  Risk
5.  Stratego
6.  Boggle (though I guess this isn't really a board game since there's no board).
7.
Yup

Is pictionary considered a board game? Oh well. I like it even if it isn't.

Looks the exact same as Parcheesi (love that game) but with less spaces and no safe ones.

David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa

1. Cribbage
2. Pictionary (many skills involved -- don't have to be a good artist to be effective)
3. Stratego (Good balance of luck and skill)
4. Monopoly
5. Scrabble

I dislike playing chess (way too intense for me -- hurts my head), though I recognize it as a great game.  One thing I find terribly annoying about chess is that it is virtually impossible to defeat a better player.  There is at least enough element of luck in each of the games on my list to allow a player of lesser skill an outside shot at victory.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
As a kid, I enjoyed the obvious games like Monopoly and Clue, but my favorites were probably:

Mall Madness
Careers
Dream Phone

Yes, I am a guy, but I REALLY love Mall Madness and have recently purchased it on ebay...seriously a classic  :D

Without question the best game of chess I played was in a losing effort to a friend's dormitory's self professed chess champ.  The guy was much much better than me, but I played him to a stand still for a couple of hours until he finally wore me down.  He shook my hand and told me that was the best anyone had played him in the dorm.

Many many moons ago.

I have a hard time resisting an impulsive move in chess.  I don't play much anymore, but enjoy it.
Yup

The game is usually with safe spaces ("globes") and I don't know why this one doesn't have them. I hadn't noticed. Great family game, though.
