Lebron & D-Howard in the NBA Finals, huh?

The TV execs would be pleased.

Nicely done gentlemen, all four of you.

But an extra pat on the back to IP and StartOrien.

Two teams built in similar fashion around prime of their life franchise players, right down to the mirror image jump-shooting power forwards and freelancing point guards.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
A hearty congrats to Rondo, honestly I thought he argued a good case, and I thought it would be a lot closer. Clearly both of us assumed we'd be winning.

This is going to be a good matchup.

Congrats to the Finalists; well-deserved, guys.

Congrats also to my fellow finalist from last year, Rondo2287.  I guess the voters wanted some new blood in there, huh? ;)

thanks guys.  In college bball id be in the midst of a dynasty right now i suppose.  A championship game and final 4 in back to back years.  I still think i had a better team but i understand why people voted for IP.  Good arguments all around and unfortunately i didnt get suspended. But i did call IP's team a bunch of communists so im at about 50% or 13% better than Jennings

What exactly are you insinuating?

I voted for Chicago for these reasons:
Chicago because I think Jennings and LeBron will pick and roll the Bucks to death. They don't have an answer for either of those options when they need to get a stop.

The Bucks will be able to score too, but defensively Chicago can answer what they do well much better. Add in HCA and Chicago gets my vote.

I voted for Sacramento because I fear that in the 10 minutes that Dwight Howard isn't on the floor your team will get outscored by a large enough margin to overcome their disadvantage with the starting lineups.

I didn't like that your only two backup big men are rookies who though talented are unproven. Playing Boozer/Randolph is a big test (this came up in your press conference). Playing Hedo at the 4 isn't a good answer in my eyes either (this came up in the first round of the playoffs). Additionally into my calculations is that any game where Dwight can't play his usual 38 minutes due to foul trouble I felt your team was almost certain to lose. I think that gets Sacramento the one extra game it needed to beat Phoenix.

Curious voting to me is a slap in the face to say that there weren't good reasons to vote for any of the excellent four teams remaining.

I don't like the implication of this statement, either.  I mean, I could point to the voting record of some of those who voted against Sacramento dating back to last season, and could suggest that there's a clear anti-staff -- or at least, anti-Roy/Edgar -- bias at work.  However, that's nothing more than ugly conjecture.

I think our teams were close.  Frankly, I find it curious that I only got one non-staff vote, but again, this entire thing is subjective.  I know certain members have been banging the "mod conspiracy" drum for a couple years now.  I'm more willing to give the benefit of the doubt, and say that they actually read all of the arguments and remained open-minded.  I don't want to hurt feelings, but I think it's fair to say that I'm a pretty good debater in this type of format, and others aren't quite as skilled.  If I persuade people, it doesn't mean that they were part of some conspiracy all along.

If there is a mod conspiracy, I guess I know where I stand with the rest of the staff, as I think only one of them voted for me to beat Utah.  I guess everyone else just likes Dons better.  ::)

In case you need justification for why I didn't vote for your team in the last round, here you go.

I don't see a team with Corey Maggette as a starting SF and being relied upon heavily, to go deep in the playoffs.  Sorry, I just don't.  The guy is relatively one-dimensional and doesn't make his teammates better.  Also, I just didn't see your answer for Lebron. 2010 Rip Hamilton isn't 2005 Rip.  Plus, I'm not enamored with starting Gortat at center.

As for the other series, I was back & forth and pretty torn.  Ultimately, it came down to my disdain for John Salmons and I felt that Sacramento had slightly more depth.

Sorry for the tough love but there's my justifications.  Funny that it has nothing to do with staff alliances or the such.

Very disappointing.  Nothing like being a "sore winner".  I still contend that Sacramento was a better team, but I'm willing to let it go, even if I feel like there were suspicious votes against me (again, there are certain voters who I have had personal / disciplinary issues with who have either been very vocally critical of my teams, or who have voted against me uniformly for two years now, or both.  The "mod conspiracy" crap cuts both ways).  To bring up some sort of conspiracy after you've won just seems kind of beneath you.

By the way, I'm currently leaning very heavily toward voting for IP, because I don't think Phoenix has any answer for Lebron, and because I don't think Phoenix can exploit any of Chicago's weaknesses (lack of depth, weak offense at C, PF, and SG, etc.)

If anybody has any questions why I'm voting for a mod, those are the reasons.  Both Chicago and Phoenix are very flawed teams, but Chicago is less so.
