Marquis is not only older than TA, but at least TA didn't hurt his team in the playoffs. Marquis was put in to play defense, and hurt himself on a offensive move, pathetic. All I'm saying is he isn't reliable. I wouldn't have sign him.

When your options are someone who is inconsistent with flashes of goodness or someone who is reliably crap, I know which player I'm picking.

reliably crap?

What are you talking about ???

Did you watch the playoffs...

Marquis Daniels was signed because we were allowed to go over the cap on him, I guarantee that Danny wanted TA instead. But now TA has moved onto a team where he’ll have a greater role.

What are you talking about? We gave Marquis the most we possibly could, which is still less than he could have gotten elsewhere (for the second straight year). Tony Allen we could have given a boatload more money than we offered, or any other team would have realistically been able to. We chose not to offer him anything more than Memphis did, and he went there so he could get some extra PT on a lottery team. Says a lot about his character, doesn't it?

I'd want the guy who takes less money (and in all likelihood playing time) to play with a winner than a guy who leaves said winner to get a few extra minutes a night, regardless if the team wins or not.

All I know is whoever he guards when Memphis plays us, I hope either Ray or Paul drop 40 on him. If he gets enough minutes.

With all these free agents in camp trying to knock each other off the roster, the new catch phrase in camp will be

"Safer than Wafer"   ;D

with Wafer being my pick for the least secure of the top 15 players with a contract right now.

Marquis Daniels would be the inconsistent player who sometimes looks good.  Reliably crap would be pretty much anyone you could get with the veteran's minimum if the Celtics declined to offer Daniels a contract, which is what the Celtics would had to do if they followed the other commenter's suggestion of not signing Daniels.

Mobley's an interesting name. I thought he was done.

Hassell would be a nice defensive sub.
Uck I am also intrigued by the thought of URI's own Cut Mobley!

If he can get his head put on right, McCants is the most talented player the Celtics could have coming off the bench at the 2/3.  (more talented then West).

But, can he get the head on right?

He would be who I bring in and let him compete with Wafer for the last swing spot (even if they end up playing ahead of others)  Both have mental team issues they have to prove.

Didn't he also have knee issues? I could be wrong but I think I recall him failing a physical or two in his post-Wolves days.

As a third string SF I'd go for Morrisson.  We already have two backup SGs so we don't need another.

Hassell was washed up two years ago, no need to try him again.

Morrisson at least has something in him that warranted a top 3 pick in the draft.  If the C's have a chance to get that out of him then he could be a decent asset.  Low risk/(potential) high reward.  He'll never be a great defender but he could still be a good scorer.

I don't think the knee is an issue any longer.  He's not in the nba because the consensus is that he has an extremely bad attitude and bad body language on the court.  He is very talented but, kind of like Wafer, thinks he should be scoring Iverson style.
Hopefully with improved shot selection, he could improve on his horrible career field goal percentage.

Did you go to URI? I grew up in the Kingston area and watched him Wheeler, Reynolds Dean and Co over the years. Anyone a rhody fan?

Which reminds me, anyone else notice that Sean Williams got cut from his Israeli team before the first game of the season?
He came with a previously unreported ankle injury.

I grew up in Kingston, and although I've lost touch with Rhody hoops somewhat, that elite 8 team that beat Kansas is still one of my sweetest sports memories ever.

I grew up in Richmond and attended URI.  I used to really like the basketball team, though I don't follow them too much anymore.  I've played a little pickup ball with Mobley and Odom.  Mobley was a very good player, and a super nice guy, but I kind of think he's washed up now.

What if we traded Marquis,Avery and BBD to Denver for JRSmith
Obviously Lafayette and Gaffney get cut
Then signed Hassell and Morrison

Rondo,Nate,West(combo-guard)
Ray,JRSmith,Wafer(G/f)
Pierce,Hassell,Morrison
KG,JO,Gody
Perk,Shaq,Erdin

To me, this roster would be ideal. We'd have MORE than enough 2nd unit offense, and Hassell would be the new Tony. Morrison can take on the job as project along with Erdin. And this allows us to play through the end of this year and make cuts in January if needed to sign 1 more big(if needed)
But I still think once Perk comes back, the our big man unit is pretty solid. Only piece I would like to add would be an athletic PF like Stromile Swift, then we'd cut Erdin
Can't stop, Rondo!
