I have once created a beards-only team on NBA Live .. called "No Mikkis"  :D
Stay classy, San Diego. Hello, Baxter? Baxter, is that you? Bark twice if you're in Milwaukee. Is this Wilt Chamberlain? Have the decency to say something.

I think you guys are confused.

Morrison is not in town trying out for a roster spot.

He is in town trying out for a job as "live Gino."

tommy point for the gino reference!

I think Morrison's high side is maybe a wally sort of guy who can stretch the floor, hit shots, fill a lane but not much else.  Hey a try out can't hurt and we do need someone as a sf besides an older PP, and usually injured backup Marquis.

I don't see any of these guys beating out West or Wafer so it would come down to Erdin.  It may turn out that even though he is taller, that he sucks more than Morrison.

I want to agree about Erden, but it just nags at me that he has a 2 yr contract. Either Danny/Doc see something we havent (yet) or this will one of the worst moves since Mikki Moore.

These guys are all just camp bodies, nothing more. None of them including Wafer, Lafayette or Gaffney figure in our plans going forward.

Probably gonna water board Morrison to get info on the Lakers secrets.

I think I would rather have McCants over Wafer, but they are pretty similar.

Either one of those two shines and gets the backup gig to Ray, or Delonte wins it. I don't think we need two backup SG's when we have another one backing up Pierce and also Bradley available if need be. Not that Daniels isn't capable of holding down 18 minutes at the 3, but is he durable enough? I think another SF is more important. Either McCants, Wafer, or West get the backup SG role, and only one makes the roster.

Training camp should be interesting.

RR/Nate
Ray/AB
Piece/Daniels
KG/BBD
Perk/Shaq/JO

Those are the only players GUARANTEED spots on the roster as of right now IMO.

Everyone else has something to prove;

Is Erden really just a stiff?
Is Wafer capable of 15-20 quality minutes?
Is West all there mentally?
Is Harangody too slow to defend 3's and too small to defend 4's?
What about our favorite hypothetical trade fillers, Gaffney and Lafayette?

Add in some of these other invites, and we should have a very competitive training camp with a lot of tough decisions to make.

I'm upset, other than Hassell, what's with the guards. Like we don't have enough? Lakers signed 6'7" Matt Barnes and drafted 6'8" Devin Ebanks. Mitch has done a better job, yeah I said it. He saw how important Posey was, and is loaded with wing defenders. Why isn't DA thinking of small forwards instead? Where's Pierce's backup. Wake up Danny!

To sign Barnes, we couldn't have signed J.O.  If we didn't sign him, we'd have Shaq and Erden as our only two healthy centers, and people would be telling Danny to wake up for not signing a big man.

We didn't have the money to get a top-notch bench SF, so we brought back Daniels, who was good in the role when healthy.  If he is ready to go in the playoffs, all this talk about not having an adequate 3rd string SF will go by the wayside.

Never said I wanted Barnes. I don't have a problem with the bigs he signed. Those were great signings, but Von, Marquis, and Delonte are all fragile players, all 3 won't play 82 combine. Doc didn't even have faith in Marquis, then Marquis showed why in the Finals causing his own concussion. I'd be cool with even Devean George, Jarvis Hayes, Jawad Williams getting a tryout at least, but Cutino and Rashard?

Danny is looking at talent more than position.  He knows that Ray can slide over to guard SFs if necessary; he did it quite competently last season.

Isn't it better to have talented players than scrubs and retreads that happen to play SF?

If these talented guards can defend Kobe, Lebron, Vince, Carmello, Wade effectively, then yes. I thought a Posey and Artest proved vital defenders in playoffs. That wing size is missing on C's. I'm sorry Ray can't defend. C'mon, he's a bad example of defense. Slow reflexes, I don't trust him at all defensively.

I 100% disagree with your assessment of Ray's defense.  He was a fantastic defender in last year's Finals.  It wasn't wing defense that killed us, it was lack of rebounding and the disappearance of our offense.  Danny has made huge strides in both of those areas this off-season.

To be fair to Marguis, Doc also didn't have faith in TA in 2008, but he did in 2010. Things change based on personnel.

Marquis is not only older than TA, but at least TA didn't hurt his team in the playoffs. Marquis was put in to play defense, and hurt himself on a offensive move, pathetic. All I'm saying is he isn't reliable. I wouldn't have sign him.

When your options are someone who is inconsistent with flashes of goodness or someone who is reliably crap, I know which player I'm picking.
