Erick Dampier waived; won't be joining Heat (merged)

According to ESPN.com, the Heat are not going to offer Dampier a contract because they're already happy with the centers they have.

I have no idea why, considering Damp, even at 35, is better than any center they have on their roster.  But I'm not going to complain.

Me neither.

Their love affair with Joel Anthony mystifies me. Balding, can't score, can't rebound, can block shots a little.

He can defend and doesn't demand the ball, that's most of what the Heat need out of their starting C. The entire rest of their line up are good rebounders for their position (assuming Wade/Bron takes PG duties).

I am shocked that Dampier didn't end up with the Heat, I'm puzzled but glad.
