Cliff Ray was instrumental in developing our young bigs, but unfortunately, he was recently released by the Celtics. No official reason has been made, but nonetheless I think Coach Ray deserves his very own appreciation thread from us Celtics fans. He may be gone, but he will always be a vital part of banner #17...thank you Coach Ray!

I like Clifford Ray, and he seems like a good guy, but, if Perkins still doesn't know how to not travel with the ball, how good of a coach could he be?

you work with what you're given.

Thanks Cliff ! I'll especially miss his awkward high fives and but pats when he's pleased.

He'll be somewhere next season.

Beyond dunking, I don't recall Ray having much offensive prowess.

The strides both Big Al and Perk took  under Ray defensively...especially Perk..Was extraordinary.  They had zilch of a defensive system to work with pre-Thibodeau.  But their footwork and rebound positioning improved drastically under Coach Ray.

thank you Coach Ray!

And TP to Radio head for the post.  I for one am not going to blame the C's and call Danny Ainge a snake until I hear more.  I hope there is a good reason for them letting him go.

ditto. Thanks for making Perk the beast that he is today. Where does the Danny let him go stuff come fro? Do we have confirmation of this or do we know for a fact. Just because Pinckney to a job with the Bulls does not mean he does not have a better offer somewhere.

I am sure there is a logical explanation -- though we may never hear it.  I have enough trust in DA, Doc and ownership that this did not come out of left field though it may seem so to fans.  I don't care to know the real scoop -- but I will presume that all parties handled this respectfully until I hear credible evidence otherwise.

look at perk from his rookie season to now.  also look at what clifford did to help bbd, leon, and big al.  guy is a great coach and the team benefited from his efforts.

good luck coach, thx for all u did. its appreciated and was helpful for banner 17
