Well there are many many more judgment calls in basketball vs. football. And, logisticall/realistically, you can't have judgment calls argued about among refs. It's undermining and creates a bad atmosphere. The time for criticism of judgment calls is by video review after each game, which I believe does happen.
So in football, they usually huddle to discuss concrete things: "I saw his feet at position X, was the player juggling the ball?"
or
"I called pass interference, but did you see the ball tipped at the line?"
These types do happen frequently in basketball, where they huddle to see if another ref saw other concrete things: foot on the line, in the circle, etc. The other time they huddle is when opposing calls are made: 2 refs blow the whistle, one says charge, other says blocking foul. Then they have to get together and work it out.
