Cliff Ray may be leaving

    Word is that Clifford Ray won't be back on the Celtics bench this coming season.

That would be a shame.  I like Coach Ray and think he's been a huge influence on the progression of Kendrick Perkins and Glen Davis.  If he does leave, we wish him well.

Clifford Ray is responsible for impacting the games of so many bigs from Robert Parish to Dwight Howard. So defense and rebounding might take a hit. I'd make a call to Dave Cowens or Parish as a replacement.

He's reported to be a solid big guy coach, but is easily replaced (the Chief is looking to get into coaching, right?).

If Eddie Lacerte leaves, however, we're screwed.

He's a big man's coach and we haven't given him a good young big man to work with since Al Jefferson.

Clifford Ray was a class act.  A Gentle Giant who found a way to get through to alot of different personalities.  Is this due to a signing? a better offer?  Contract dispute?

Robert Parish - mainly due to his connection to Clifford Ray - intrigues me a great deal as a big man coach. He'd be at the top of my list to replace Ray.

That's just some out of left field, disappointing news.  I never considered that Big Cliff wouldn't be behind the bench next year.  I think he's been a great asset these last few years and I'm sure the big men will miss him a ton.
