Glen Davis has always seemed a little husky to me, maybe a little over-weight but definitely has some muscle mass to go along with it. I mean, he's not a former UConn Husky like Ray Allen, but still - Shaquille O'Neal tells a story of Davis wrestling and pinning him when Glen was only 15 years old so we know Glen Davis is certainly no push-over.  ;D

Well, i hope he is in shape...for once..... It would be GREAT to see him getting there and being who he should be....but I'll believe it more when i see it.....this is the "Lowered expectations" file, as if it is some sort of miracle that a highly compensated pro athelite should actually be "in shape" WOW, isn't he special. As for the "Best shape he has ever been in" Hahahha, how much is that saying.....how about, "BBD is going to show up this year, in pre season, in real Basketball shape" Like a real pro, like Ray Allen. Sorry, nothing pers, but it is ridiculous to expect anything less.

Davis doesn't need to slim down. He just needs to keep doing that MMA stuff to continue to improve his conditioning and his footwork. If he does those things he's gonna be just fine.
Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity...

Agreed.  He won't be able to play minutes at the 5 if he slimmed down, thus he will be less valuable.

That's what I'm wondering, too. I mean, is BBD fatter cause he's shorter than Shaq? Cause I can't imagine him weighing more than Shaq!  ;D

we heard that before but, if you look at all the pix he really does look thinner! which is great, he can jump higher, Less risk of injuries, I don't think Doc will play baby at the 3 even though it is a gud idea, baby would punish any 3 in the league including LeCon.

No offense, but this would be a terrible terrible idea. If baby tried to guard Lebron, he wouldn't stand a chance. Baby is not a 3, unless we play a zone defense, but we don't do that. Baby is a 4. He's on the shorter side, but whatever, he is still a good power forward in the NBA. He's not a center. He's a very good post defender, he can shoot the midrange shot, he is an above average rebounded, he hustles his butt off, he just has trouble playing against much much taller players, like Bynum. But Bynum is one of the bigger CENTERS in the league, especially with the team we have now, Baby doesn't have to worry about him much, he shouldn't see many minutes at center this year. If baby were 2 inches taller, he may be one of the best PFs in the league, as he is, he is simply pretty good, but with room to get better.

I'm all for him having bulk, but there is no benefit to a gut.  He has a big fat roll hanging over his shorts, and yes this is holding him back from being better as a player.

It still amazes me when I see a professional athlete, who has all the time and money in the world to be in shape, show up with a fat gut.  I'm not harping on only Davis, but I do want Davis to reach a higher level of potential.

Exactly. What makes Baby effective down low is his... size down low.  ;)

BBD is not even on the rebounding radar until he gets on the NBA's rebounding list, As in some sort of consistant average..... He has gotten a few good ones, but he just isn't in the class of the better rebounders...he doesn't have the numbers. I can't see making excuses for him being overweight so he can play center...This isn't the NFL you know. BBall and football are wayyyyy apart in that way, maybe more....not the point though.  BBD can get in much better shape, IF he wants to.

I'm not saying this is true in this case but... you guys do realize that some people are going to be "fat" no matter what they do? Maybe he doesn't put forth full effort or maybe he does to no avail... the guy obviously loves to play so I doubt that his weight is ALL a lack of effort. Shaq at times will tell you he doesn't always try to be in the best shape so I know it's a lack of effort by him at times... I don't know much about BBD but I know he has always been pretty "fat"... are some of you expecting too much? I know he gets paid to stay in shape (actually, he could weigh 1k lbs as long as he does his job on the court... THAT is what he gets paid for)but what are you expecting from him... do you work w/him personally to know if he doesn't put in the effort. I know you can tell if he puts on extra weight but tell me, what do you think he should weigh and are you being realistic for HIM and not going by what other/past players look like?
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

All I'm saying is, if your a professional athlete you should know when to lay off the Count Chocula. Why not just have Captain Crunch! The man needs to show some discipline. Not something he has shown much of off the court.

Baby looks in decent shape to me.  If he loses too much weight, he won't be as effective.  We don't need a scrawny undersized player.  His size is what gives him an advantage.  Stay the way you are, Baby! ;D

Again, how do you know it's about effort... all I'm saying is, it could be more than how much he eats or how little he exorcises.  A lot of ppl talk about Shaq's weight and conditioning (rightfully so in his case) but he will go down as one of the greats... not everyone is made to go extra hard at all times when it comes to conditioning, no matter how much they get paid (note the ppl who die "early" when all they have to do is exorcise more... death can't convince some to exorcise, you're talking money as if that's suppose to change ppl). BTW, they are paid to put a ball in a hole and play D (SOME) as long as they do that you should be happy... this isn't life or death, if you don't like it then don't support them w/ur money or cheers.

Contrary to what you may think, Davis just isn't "fat no matter what".  Go back and look up pictures of Shaquille O'Neal when he was Davis' age... he was quite lean.  Not to mention that when Shaq came into the league he had a 42" verticle.. while being 7'2".

Davis has some of the best trainers available in the country, all the time in the world to work out, and can even afford a personal chef fulltime... so the only excuse at this point is effort.

His conditioning is the least of my worries on this team though.  But based upon that picture I don't see how anyone can think he is in great shape.
