I feel like these threads analyzing players physique in pictures happens quite a bit. I feel there is no way to accurately judge what kind of shape these guys are in until you see them up close in person. Even on TV these guys look different.

Haven't you people ever seen pictures of yourselves and thought, oh my god I look like a swollen fat slob in this picture...or, wow! I look great in this pic!

The truth always lies somewhere in the middle...

The truth definitely lies in the middle. BBD's middle!

all these pro athletes are in good shape. Even Charles Barkley (in his retired state) can still look like he's in pretty good shape. Remember that race he ran with Dick Bavetta? during the weigh-in, he seemed pretty fit.

I was with you until you mentioned (retired) Barkley and good shape in the same sentence.

In his MVP season Charles

Retired Chuck VS Bavetta Charles

no, i'm serious. I can't remember exactly which Inside the NBA episode it was but i think it was some sort of weigh in (which is why i said the bavetta thing). anyway, it was hilarious as usual but i also remember being impressed that Chuck looked a lot more fit than i think we give him credit for. I mean, i thought he was dough-y but he can actually a lot more fit than he seems.

If Davis got down to the weight some people in this blog think he should be he'd be an NBDL or overseas player.  He's too short for 4-5 and too slow for 3.  His bulk allows him to compensate for his lack of height.  Without it, he'd be another 6-7 tweener.

Facially, Glenn always looks tired on the court...But never plays like he is.

Facially, Daniels looks like he's about to doze.  Different kind of tired :)

I disagree. If he kept his muscle and dropped the fat he would be as strong as he is now, yet quicker in his defense, a better rebounder and finisher at the rim, and better with that offensive step towards the basket. 20-30 lbs of extra fat on him does nothing for his strength or ability to play "thick" down low. It just hurts the rest of his game.

I somehow think we have all had this conversation more than once!  ;D

This comes up every year... Last year, Baby was in the best shape hes ever been in... The year before, oh yea best shape hes ever been in.

And anyone who continually thinks that Baby is going to play minutes at the three is completely out of their mind... Is that even plausible, i mean think about it really now.

If he's improving his conditioning each year then this should be completely accurate.  I'd say many young NBA players are in the best shape of their lives to that point for several seasons in a row.

Agreed, KG will see minutes at the 3 before Baby does.  Not gonna happen.

If we are talking about in shape "for Charles" since he retired then I can kinda see where you are going with the Bavetta thing.  Because he got in better shape just to run that race.  But haivng said that, he is a bad example to use with the point...I think you were trying to make.

Not sure what to think of this. Doesnt look in too bad of shape physically, but mentally is another question

I'm afraid that the V shape that we are all looking for is upside down on BBD. Come on people! Look at that belly! It looks like mine! No one on here can seriously think that he is in the best shape of his life simply because he has a couple muscles in his shoulders and arms. That belly fat is what is at stake here. It is slowing him down and making him less productive on the floor. Brian Scalabrine had less belly fat than him and you guys ripped the guy mercilessly… No one is saying the guy doesn't add value to the team, just that he is short changing us all due to not being disciplined.

Correct me if I'm wrong - but weren't you among the chief posters saying exactly that?

If you're fat your whole life, and you get in better shape but are still kinda fat, you're in the best shape of your life.

Your wrong. I said that we should take BBD and a player and/or a pick and trade him for a solid defensive wing to back up PP. I still believe that. If the guy had no value then that doesn't make a lot of sense. Who would trade with us. His value could be a lot more though if he wasn't a fatty.
