i didn't get to watch any of the summer games, so i wouldn't know how well anyone played. With our roster sitting at 15 and Gaffney and Lafayette on the bubble... do any of you think they have a chance of making it? i haven't heard much positive things about Erden after all.

Gaffney’s chances are slim to none, and Laffeyette straight sucks.

Nope, they're just training camp bodies at this point.

Do they have a chance in the NBA (yes a very slim one)?  But zero chance with our team.

Dee could use them in Springfield

What are the chances that Harangody turns into a major disappointment?  What are the chances that Wafer or West mentally implode?

Lafayette: no, Gaffney: a slight chance.

Including them not making the team.

I watched them a bit during the summer and could not find any skill or talent that would let them beat out Avery, goody, west, or wafer.

I wish them the best in Europe or wherever else life takes them.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I would give a chance to Gaffney. He is a quick, tall (6'8") long-armed defender. He spent the summer honing his skills and adding bulk and a jumpshot. The team needs a defender like his size considering the fact that we need to limit point production from players like Kobe, Melo, Lebron and KD. My topmost worry for next season is PP's ability to defend these young guys at his position. Height, quickness and fulltime ability in defending those guys are in Gaffney's arsenal.

Based on the summerleague, no.  Gaffney is an NBA defender, but a mediocre highschool offensive player.  Until he learns to play offense on the perimeter about 20 times better, he is not an NBA player, despite the fact that he can already defend.  And Gaffney is a dime a dozen D-league combo-guard.  The C's already have 3 combo-guards ahead of him on the depth chart (and that doesn't even count the starters), so he really has not chance.

Gaffney is an outstanding defender bur does not have other skills to have an NBA....on the bright side we know he has had three years of an excellent college education

I'm not as certain about The Cookie as you are.  I think he's got a lot to prove defensively, especially, and since he's not guaranteed he'd be an easy cut now that they have Delonte.  I could see Avery needing a year of seasoning before he's ready for real playing time.  West is a lock, but not really competition for Gaffney.  I think his challenges are first and foremost, his own level of play and, secondarily, a chance that Gody shows himself adaptable to the 3 quicker than expected.

Lafayette -- no real chance.  Gaffney -- would totally have to outplay Wafer in camp---and I mean totally outplay him.  Outdefend him by a mile as well as show some decent offense---enough to justify cutting Wafer's offense from the bench.  I think it's an extreme longshot but not a complete impossibility.
