our lineup going into the next postseason will look like this:

1: Rondo-Nate/Avery
2: Ray-West/Wafer
3: Pierce-Marquis-Gody
4: KG-Big Baby
5: Perk-JO-Shaq

not bad at all. what do you guys think? any weak spots? would wafer be more suited to be pierce's backup and could luke harangody be a reliable defensive big who backs up pierce and can spot up and shoot the J?

Will be interesting to see if Gody can be our new Scal, playing some 3 and some 4. He is a much better offensive weapon then Scal (not sure would use the word weapon in relation to scal); he will not be denied and will be a better rebounder as well. Question is again whether he can develop the defensive smartz of a Scal.

I think our lineup is stacked and interchangeable, too.

J.O can play the 4 and 5, as well. West can play either 1 or 2, and I wouldn't be surprised in some cases if Doc played him at the 3.

I think the biggest advantage with our 2nd unit is that once it clicks, we'll have a run-and-gun bench. I can see us running some teams out of the gym with our bench youth and speed.

We finally have more young pieces to run with Rondo.

As for Pierce's backup? I think either Wafer or Marquis can handle that. West may even play some 3 in limited minutes. I think the bottom line is that between Von, Marquis and West we can find Pierce the 16 or so minutes of rest he'll need.

The team that Danny has crafted this year is low on price but definitely has bang for the buck.

I can see Luke and Avery getting some minutes in spots, too. It all depends on matchups.

Let's just hope we don't end up competing in the wheelchair league...

Harangody is a way better player than Scal ever was.
You are no longer black, or brown, or yellow, or red! You are now GREEN, you are light GREEN, or dark GREEN!

Gody is not yet a reliable anything. This is the NBA, not the Big East.

Still, I am looking forward to seeing both rookies in camp. Hoping for the best.

we should not be overconfident

remember how last year when we got Rasheed a lot of people say we are also stacked, and are winning 60+ games again...

not that I'm saying we will lose many games, but the point is, as great as our team may look on paper like what we say about Miami and also what people say about our big 3 in 2008...

chemistry remains an issue...how well will Shaq play along with the starters and the bench (since he'll be coming off the bench)...how big will JO be...

will Von behave? Marquis play up to his potential?

Id like to say the Celtics this year is stronger than last year's lineup mainly because of Shaq coming off the bench compare to Sheed, because Shaq is instance offense off the bench down low, whereas Sheed spreads the floor with his shooting...

but yeh I hope this Celtics team will be a lot stronger this year and a lot hungrier

yeah the difference this year is we have defined role players in Big Baby and Nate. They are proven playoff teammates (and nate still hasn't even gone through a full training camp with the team). Throw in the O'Neal combo, and we have a more versatile big rotation than we did last year with Sheed coming in.

Last year at this time, we were pretty excited about adding Quis because that would spread the floor for Eddie House to drain 3's. Now we're giving quis a 2nd chance and we're surrounding him with even more shooters this time around (west, wafer, nate). All I have to say is that this is going to be an exciting year. Last year during the REGULAR season, our bench was unreliable. I don't see that happening this year

2010-2011 season projection: 60+ wins

I agree with not being over-confident, but 1 championship and 1 Finals Game 7 in the last 3 years leads me to firmly resist over-accentuating Doc's weaknesses.  His strenghts have more than made up for them.

Given the age and frailty of some of the C's, it's wise not to get TOO excited; but anyone who isn't a wee bit excited is being just a wee bit too cynnical.

Edit:

All of our off-season moves this summer seem to indicate that our players, and even players from other teams and free agents still feel that the Celtics can contend for another championship this season. I'm hoping that this team can somehow improve on its regular season record despite the fact that we have some 'older' veterans.

52-55 wins wouldn't be an unreasonable goal for our current roster, though considering that Rondo would likely be the only starter who is under 30 years old (until Kendrick Perkins returns) we might have some challenges when pitted against younger, more athletic squads...

I think that the closer we get to 60 wins means the closer we get to homecourt advantage from the Lakers.

I don't care if MIA wins 65-70 games. I believe we can take them in a series. I'd just prefer that we have 4 games in Boston vs LA this time vice 3.

If we get HCA over the Lakers, then the pressure to split the first two games is on them, since I think we'll definitely do well on the road esp games 4 a/o 5.

Somehow, we don't seem to click during game 3s against the Lakers.
