So, my kids made me sit there and watch Shaq vs the other night as it was him vs. Justin Bieber. I must say it reminded me how good of a person he actually is. (not a bad dancer either for that matter) It is very clear that his life is devoted to his family. In a world full of athletes who seem to have all the wrong values here is a guy who seems to be doing it right. He isn't afraid to try things that might make him look silly. He has a great personality and in the hundreds of interviews I have seen over the years you don't get the impression that he feels he is too good for everyone else like many stars do.

Not only should we feel lucky that we have such an imposing presence on our ball team, we should feel lucky that we have another good person. Props to you and your apparent priorities Shaq! I look forward to hopefully giving you some for your accomplishments on the court this year as well.

I agree caught a few of the Shaq Vs shows, is it just me or does he look in excellent shape even moreso than last year?

I once saw a video of Shaq getting a ride to a store (In Miami I think) with some random fan. I always think "Why couldn't that be me?" Shaq has always seemed like an awesome dude and if there was ever anyone in the NBA I'd like to meet, it'd be Shaq.

If Shaq can't stop Bieber, how is he going to contain Lebron?

Roy, you are a Curmudgeon!  ;D  Shaq can provide a world of  hurt to LeBron...no layups allowed!

You can tell he loves kids and wouldn't do anything to hurt them.  I love Shaq's "renaissance man" but "common man" attitute toward life.  Even when he was a laker it was very hard to hate him...he seems to genuinely like people...can't think of another athlete who is as accessible...

TP to you EJPlaya for a great post.  I must agree that it can be easy to forget how good of a person he is.  He's comfortable in his own shoes, good to his family, charitable, and respectful to the game (paying for Mikan's funeral, etc).

I've always loved Shaq, even when he was a Laker. I'm proud to have him on our team.

And to think that The Boston Celtics will be retiring one of the most dominant centers ever in the history of the NBA. The next two years will be fun, indeed.

The man made his legacy in purple and gold, and may very well add to it in Green.

Although his on-court impact will be judged next spring, we already know he will be a huge presence in the locker room. He is with his equals in the Big Three, which he never had (he was far superior to Kobe when they played, DWade was unproven, nobody on Phoenix ever won squat, and LeBron obviously did whatever he wanted).

Now he gets to be a (key?) cog on a team led by 3 other sure-fire Hall of Famers who have won a championship. Their is definitely mutual respect there, and that will show both off and on the court.

Plus, he is still a megastar who brings even more attention to the franchise and will most definitely be entertaining.
