Being real, with all 2-guards we have signed on this team, Delonte will have to play like MJ to make this team, or somebody has to get injured badly.
I don't like Delonte, and I don't understand that people say he has a high IQ and talent, if he had both of those things he would be a all-star like Rondo, instead he changed 4 teams in 4 years.
Are you kidding with that first bit? Delonte's making the team. Doc and Danny both love him, plus he's a legit talent. He'll be your first two guard off the bench behind Ray, I'm betting on that. Wafer's the third stringer.
The only reason he doesn't have a guaranteed contract is because of his mental problems. If he loses it again THEN he'll be waived. But barring that, he's in for the long haul.
I agree with the first post here... 4 teams, 4 years... Thats not a good stat for a player and that has to be looked at. There is a reason that teams keep trading him... I expect Von Wafer to be in front of West big time. West will be lucky to make the team.
Not that Delonte doesn't have some issues, but your argument that Wafer will play ahead of Delonte *because* Delonte has bounced around a little is... well, pretty silly.
Have you forgotten Von Wafer's career history?
16 games for the Lakers in '05 - '06
1 game for the Clippers in '06 - '07
21 games for Denver in '07 - '08
8 games for Portland, also in '07 - '08
63 games for Houston in '08 - '09
unknown number of games for his Greek team
0 games for whatever NBA team signed him to the 10-day contract last year
Delonte:
Three years in Boston, then traded to Seattle for RAY FREAKIN' ALLEN (and Danny has said, all along - not just recently - that he hated giving up Delonte in that deal)
Traded to Cleveland mid-season, as part of a major trade. Seattle didn't dump Delonte, Cleveland wanted him. Seattle also unloaded Szczerbiak in that deal, which I believe was their primary motivation.
Three seasons in Cleveland, but has his issues and gets traded to Minny. Minny cuts him to save a lot of $$ and because they don't really need him.
Delonte was drafted in 2004, Wafer was drafter in 2005. Delonte has played in 364 games for his career, over 10,000 minutes played.
Von Wafer? On those six NBA teams that have written him a paycheck, he's appeared in only 109 games, for 1,452 minutes. Total.
So... which player has been bouncing around the league?
Delonte's gotten traded a couple times. Wafer's gotten cut.
