Now that it looks like DWest is signed I am a little confused on who will play SF.  Is Von Waffer a legit 6'5" 209 or is that exagerated.  If so he is close to a SF size.  Has he ever played that position ?

So is this what we look like right now ?

Rondo West Nate Bradley
Allen West Nate Waffer
Pierce Waffer/Daniels
Garnett JO Baby Gody
Shaq JO Baby   ( IR Perk )

No way Wafer is in front of Daniels behind PP. Erdin at this point will be behind JO at center as well, not BBD. I also think there is a good chance that if West makes the team, which I fully expect him to, that Wafer or Bradley will be released/traded.

I think the 10 guys who will see consistent time in the regular season are:

C: Jermaine / Shaq
PF: KG / BBD
SF: Pierce / Daniels
SG: Ray / Delonte
PG: Rondo / Nate

Deep bench / inactive:  Perk, Wafer, Bradley, Harangody, Erden

I put the slash between Daniels Waffer because i think that it will be up for grabs.  That being said i think Daniels should have it.  i like the West signing but i dont think it fits need.  I really wanted someone in the 6'7" 6'8" range with that last spot.  I dont want to get rid of Bradley,  something about him i like.  I think his drop off in Texas was the system not the player.  I think he might be the steal of the draft...IMO

Right now, I would put it like this:

Rondo/Nate
Allen/West
Pierce/Daniels
KG/Davis
JO/Shaq

But Wafer could sneak his way in there, as could Bradley.  West also could end up playing more PG.  JO and Shaq could switch.

I think there is going to be some real competition for the backup spots on the perimeter, and I expect that to continue for much of the season, with different guys getting looks.

I think Doc will go a lot with a 10 man rotation early in the season, and the guys who end up on the outside looking in could be swung at the deadline for a stronger backup SF (or to fill another hole created by injuries).

edit: Roy beat me to it.

I also think Delonte will end up being the backup guard for both Rondo/Ray if he can make the team and play up to his past level of play.

You think Delonte will beat out Nate?  Maybe, but if so, he's making a bit too much money to ride the pine...

We have quite a few folks with a solid injury history, though.  "15 strong" won't be our motto this year...good thing it's taken.  I'd say Danny's putting together a bargain-bin platoon of the best cheap players out there and hoping enough of them are healthy each night.  Delonte, Quisy, JO, and Shaq should all be in the rotation, but each could miss 20 games easily, based on past availability.

Love the DWest pickup, but it does signal that both Ray and Paul's workload will not decrease this year.

I just don't see Quis being reliable.  West/Nate together should be potent, but my guess is Doc always has either Paul or Ray out there with them at 3.

9-man rotation:

RR / Nate
Ray / West
Paul / Ray
KG / Baby
Oneil / Oneil

Yeah, in the playoffs I think Delonte would take Nate's minutes.  I could also see BBD being the odd man out if Perk is able to get healthy by the playoffs.  I think the Celts will try to play JO at PF, to give them a height / rebounding advantage.

In the playoffs, I agree (Nate would likely be used in spots like last year), but for the regular season, I think Doc will go with 10 guys.

I agree.  I also think if Perk comes back in time, BBD will be a prime trade piece at the deadline.

I think the first chance Danny has to pick up a legit backup SF, Erden is history.

Delonte is an intersting pick up but I think he creates some redundancy. Which of these 3 combinations do you like best for our back-up backcourt:

Nate/West
West/Wafer
Nate/Wafer

All are viable but I think West and Wafer may emerge as the best combination (most reliable and consistent).  That would put Nate at the end of the bench.  Not sure how valuable he is as trade bait but I do think someone will be packaged.  Imagine what we could get for Perk and Nate.

not at all... If West makes the team we’re gonna trade the guys behind him? have you heard of depth?

Avery Bradley is 19 years old, theres no way we’re going to just trade him because he didn’t crack the rotation out of training camp.

Rondo, Nate, West
Allen, Wafer, West, Bradley
Pierce, Daniels
KG, Davis, Harangody
O’Neal, O’Neal
