Jerry Stackhouse a good option?

I was reading that Stackhouse was waiting for an invite to the Miami bandwagon. Which got me thinking...

Wouldn't he be great as a Pierce backup. He's got what we want

1.) Scorer, slash and hit 3s
2.) Solid D on SFs AND SGs - 6'6/ 200+lbs
3.) Proven veteran AND great locker room guy
4.) Not a headcase and will play for the vet min

I added Rudy as an option, as well as other possible buyouts such as Posey, Nocioni,etc. But IMO, Stackhouse sounds perfect. A roster full of veterans that can play. We would beat Miami and LA hands down, given the chemistry works...

I will pass on Craphouse.  He has made a career of letting people down and racking up points when it doesn't matter.  MIA getting him would help us.

I won't say best, but a pretty good option. I would love to have him here. I rather Stack than Rudy. Stack is tougher, better defensively and a bigger build. I like Rudy because of long-term, but if he's not trying to stay and play in the U.S. then what's the point in getting him

Definitely stronger than Rudy. Fernandez still looks like he's he'd be in college.

How in the world is the Sprewell thread from 2 years ago getting hits? Last note on Sprewell was 2 years ago when he had his house boat forclosed. He's long past done, even further past done than Antoine Walker. That's sad.

With out considering age he does fit our need for a backup 3 perfectly, but I would like to get younger player with our last roster spot.  Delonte for me since we wouldn't have to give up anything, then Rudy, then Stack.

The headcase thing is an issue for me, but I don't care that much that he is not a SF.  If they can get a true, rotation quality wing (which Delonte is), then they can move some chairs around to add more depth at the 3 later.  But I just don't think Delonte's talent outweighs his crazy.

As for Stackhouse, I think he would be an excellent addition.  He gives this team some insurance in case some of the other guys don't work out, or there are injuries.  Currently, I don't have a ton of confidence in any wings behind Pierce and Allen to be healthy (Daniels), or be rotation quality players (Bradley, Wafer)...particularly earlier in the season.  So, if they can add a legit NBA player, who can learn the system quickly, and Doc will trust to pick up minutes rather than run Pierce and Allen into the ground, I say go for it.

Stackhouse would be a good signing. It'd be nice to have another established option on the wing behind Marquis Daniels and Von Wafer given their inconsistent form last season.

You could insert Dirk Nowitzki into your scenario. Bet you'd sign him to a vet minimum contract if he were available... Just because the guy hasn't won a title doesn't mean he can't play. Stackhouse would be a nice pickup on this team if the Rudy trade can't happen. He is a scoring machine even at his age. For 10-12 min a night backing up PP he'd be solid.

If Stack's body doesn't hold up you simply have an old player who is still a decent contributor, basically exactly what happend with Finley last year.  He didn't give us what we expected but he could step on the floor and not kill us at least.

If West's head goes wrong?  Well who knows the possibilities, but it's possible it tears up some of the team chemistry.  Not saying it's true, who knows exactly, but imagine if that Gloria James rumor is true... that kind of damage to your team chemistry.


I'll take Stack every day.  Plus Stack actually is a SF, West is a redundant combo guard who does not address our needs.


Stack is a solid player and can still score. He impressed me with the Bucks last year, still playing well and in the Playoffs too. If we don't have a better option I would prefer him of all the available guys.  He'd be strong in a reserve role.

If his body doesn't hold up, he's not going to be in uniform.  He hasn't played 70 games since 02-03.  There is a good chance based on his history that he won't be available for the playoffs.
