I just remembered the old expression "3-guard offense".  Can a 3-guard defense work?  Ray played with nate and TA last year with the 2nd unit, so could a 6-5 and under 2nd unit get it done?, if Shaq and BBD are the bigs?

If the BPA at the wing is Delonte, and I think it probably is, and considering the team is stacked thick with bigs, and PP and Quisy get most minutes, could Doc come up with some offense that works with a small/big lineup?  I think so.  And I think it could be possible to play a fast perimeter lineup and defend by denying, stealing, staying in front, and making them take contensted jumpers from deep, that'd be a pretty good 2nd unit.

I'd rather have a big backup 3, but not if it means taking a player not worthy of the spot.

Interesting point. I think the 3-guard offense and defense would work against most teams but not Miami. And as we all know, the road to 18 will go through miami. We need to build our team to compete against the likes of bron, wade, bosh. Nate-Delonte-Wafer won't work against Wade and Lebron. However a combo of Avery-Wafer-"versatile 3" would work great and the offense wouldn't miss a beat when compared with having delonte in it.

The thing I liked and noticed about Delonte is he seems to play better when he feels threatened. I am not sure if that is accurate as it's from limited viewing but it's like he plays with a chip on his shoulder. Have you ever noticed how if Rondo has a long jumper as the time clock is running down he manages to hit it? I mean, awkward shots that you dont expect to go in? Well, it seems as if Delonte is kind of motivated in the same way. It's like when he was growing up he got real mad if he felt as if he was being slighted. That quality bodes well on a team playing for a title.

100% yes.
Tough, aggressive, physical back up off guard  for Ray who can play good D and hit a few outside shots. I always loved Delonte's nasty edge, he fits in perfect with this team. He's an in your face type player. We need that from the wing position.

Ray / Delonte / Wafer
Rondo / Nate / Bradley

He can back up Ray and play a little point when we ned to go big at that spot for short spurts.

I do hedge with his off court issues of course. But I think this would be a great environment for him and give him a very good shot at keeping it together. Cleveland was a circus I would imagine.

Delonte may be a head case, but the man can play.  He is a guy that if he plays to his potential and keeps his head on straight, is capable of being the 4th best player on this team.  We won't have to count on him for much, so if we get him at Vet Min, anything we get from him is gravy.  He is hard-nosed and doesn't take crap from anyone.  Good defender, shooter, slasher what more could you ask for from the last roster spot?  Bring him back Danny!

Wow!  We already have Rondo, NateRob, RayRay, Von Wafer, and Avery Bradley on the team. I'm not sure where Delonte West would fit in, perhaps a 3rd string SG but the guy can be a beast on defense if agressive. He blocks centers from the weakside and is real annoying.

After reading all the viewpoints on this topic, I am still

undecided.

Not me, his offcourt the issues are not likely to improve without medication that would impair his play.  While I like his scrappy play and he is a hustler, if Danny wanted him he'd already be on this team.  I think him being diagnosed with bipolar will hurt his career.

I would hire him to sit next to LeBron's mom during HEAT games though.  That might help us.

I do want him on this team. He's actually more proven than Von and it would help to have insurance for if Von doesn't play well or Quis gets hurt.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

maybe

if we cannot find a a SF backup for Pierce i say take him

he can be a trade trip along with Wafer or Marquis towards all-star break...if hes the best option now, take him and hopefully we can get something back

I see all your points, but just to be fair, I think the reason Delonte (or any other alternative) is not already on this team is because Danny's still trying to get Rudy from Portland for a 1st round pick. Same for Larry Hughes, who the Celtics are also interested in.

Honestly, I think the Celtics basically have either Hughes or West as "Plan B's" if they don't get Rudy.

I kinda feel bad for Delonte West seeing as he was playing for the Seattle Supersonics during their last season as an NBA team (this is before the franchise relocated to Oklahoma City, obv.).

Meanwhile, Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett were living it up in Boston. The Sonics were basically a lottery team that season and set a franchise-worst record of 20 wins 62 losses despite the fact that Kevin Durant was having a stellar rookie season.

Hopefully the next time Delonte ends up in the Western conference it is a better situation than what occurred with the Sonics. Funny how Delonte still ended up on a team that lead the league in wins two years in a row (Cavs) and Durant has turned the Thunder into a playoff-caliber team. This is the same guy (Durant) who led the league in scoring last season AND won the NBA horse contest (barely edging out Rajon Rondo).

I've already said it before but I think the main issue w/ Delonte is that he'd be suspended for our first ten games, that plus the fact that he is simply too short to play back-up to Paul Pierce. I wonder if Delonte would do well on a team like the Heat?
