Great handle, great vision, decent shot. Looks like he has what it takes. Will be interesting to see if his lack of explosiveness is a disadvantage. He seems more like a Steve Nash type only perhaps not as frenetic. Will be interesting to see if it translates to the NBA - if he ever makes it here.

if he does want to come to the NBA, he has to go to the T-wolves right?

because he is so good, its a shame that he is not in the league

Careful with the Maravich comparisons. Rubio will never ever touch Pistol in the scoring/shooting class.

I see why people say it with some of his play making, but yes you're right.  Maravich toned down his scoring in the NBA where he was not asked to do it as much but was one of the better scorers to play the game, maybe the best college one.

He really never achieved his full potential and only hit his prime for a season or two because of a variety of issues, but Maravich is one of those talents that doesn't come around often.

Yes yes. I especially liked Rickys behind the back pass in traffic at the end of the fourth. That turnover was key in solidifying our win. It showed excellent court vision and phenomenol decision making. Completley unneccasary and foolish. Reminded me of a young Jay Will on that play lol.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
I doubt Rubio makes it through a season as a starter in the NBA.

He'll get his starting spot off of hype alone.

Watching the game yesterday I did think Rubio showed flashes of brilliance, especially his knowledge of spacing and creating.

But in all honesty, I think he's got some aspects of his game he needs to work on.  I thought he over dribbled to the point where he was responsible for several broken or failed plays.  He tried to get too flashy with his passing and dribbling and ended up being a detriment to the team.  Anyway, I know he's young, but I think he's got to work some of that out of his game otherwise I think he'll be more of a negative than a positive for an NBA team.

I hear what you are saying but we have seen Rondo do the same thing maybe not in the same situation but seeing as to how he and Perk are supposed to be so close and such good friends he should know Perk cant reach down and catch some of those bounce passes Rondo throws.

Rondo's assist went up in 09-10 but so did his turnovers.

And in defense of Rondo Perk cant even handle some of the passes Rondo puts right in between Perk's stone hands.  Horray for Shaq.

But back to Rubio...I like his game a little flash (but it is not old school JWill all flash, that Hubie Brown got him out of that foolishness).  I think he will do fine in the NBA IF he were on a good team.  Unfortunately for him the TWolves are not a good team.  So I could see JWill type game coming out on a bad team.

The ole Sidney Deane look good and lose game  ::)

What, no trade Rondo to the Twolves for the rights to Rubio threads yet?

Shocking...

Yep - he "Looks" like the real deal....he needs to go on and come over to Minny and prove it, though.

I like him, but it is interesting to me to see how he'd fare in an 82 game season against the best players in the world.

If he can come here and compete, then he'd prove to me that he is the real deal.

It's coming just wait...especially if Spain wins the Worlds...or if he plays real well during the tourney.

Ricky Rubio is the real deal.  He was the best point guard in that game yesterday.

I am so bummed that coach Killjoy left Rondo out of that one.  Watching Rondo and Rubio going head to head was something I was really looking forward to.  I guess I'll have to hope that both teams get to the semis.

We will have to see, but NBA guys like Rose and Durant praised his play and especially his defensive tenacity and effort.  They said they think he is definitely ready to come over, and he still will be overseas for at least another year he says.

Hopefully Minny has some of that mess of a roster figured out by then.  They will still have Kahn though, so who knows what could happen in a years time.
