Delonte West, who played last season for the Cleveland Cavaliers, has been suspended without pay for ten games for pleading guilty to carrying a concealed weapon and wearing, carrying, and transporting a handgun, in violation of the law of the State of Maryland, the NBA announced today. West is currently a free agent. If he signs a contract to play again in the NBA, West’s suspension will begin with the first game of the NBA regular season for which he is eligible and physically able to play

Ugh....something tells me he's the insurance policy if we can't get Rudy, but this sucks.

It was a bonehead move.  Little boys who don't know the rules about firearms should not own them.

LOL.

They might as well have taken this action when Delonte retires.

Why did it take this long?  Answer:  He was on the messiah's team.

Didn't he only recently plead guilty? What is this about not being suspended just because he was on Lebron's team? He lost his starting job, for pete's sake.

Clearly.  The only other possible explanation is that the league waited for a conviction, and West only pled guilty last month.  But that would be crazy.  The high-level conspiracy is by far the more likely scenario.

They typically do the punishment after the legal process completes.

It certainly could have been worse.

I sure hope that if the C's don't sign him, one of the other contenders does!

Correct as usual, fairweatherfan.

Millionaire athlete Delonte West was able to hire lawyers capable of delaying things until it was a more convenient time for him to deal with it and accept the consequences of his actions.  Yes, a conspiracy is indeed afoot, where certain people can buy priviledges that others cannot.

He lost his starting job because he isnt that good... If the Celtics sign Delonte I will seriously contemplate becoming a Knicks fan.

Yeah, to Anthony Parker, who we were hoping to trade Rasheed for along with Shaq.

But hey, if the C's end up signing West, enjoy watching Amare allowing 30 points a game along with the 20 he'll make.  :D

You think he didn't know he was illegally carrying a gun?  In his hometown nonetheless?
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale
