Not sure why Wilson Chandler for Rudy is really an upgrade for NYC... maybe Rudy works really well in their system but I like the toughness Wilson brings.  They have no draft picks to offer so that'll be as good as they can do I guess.  I know I would love Chandler on our team, he has had some real good games against us.  I would like him more than Rudy probably.

Anyways, worried about our prospects some since others are offering what we are and will probably have better draft position.  We'll see what happens but I'm still holding out hope we get him.

Completely agree.  Maybe a 3 way where the Knicks send Chandler to Boston, Boston sends a 1st rounder to Portland, and Portland sends Rudy to New York.... something like that would please me greatly :)

Seems like they'd maybe just be throwing us a bone in that situation but I would love Wilson as our Pierce backup.

The other thing I don't get about Chandler for Rudy: Is Chandler suddenly getting minutes then?  The issue seemed to be a lack of minutes and too many wings.  Also, Rudy didn't want to just shoot and that's what he was asked to do off the bench in Portland and Wilson is less of a shooter than Rudy so that seems like a bad trade.  Wilson also is a pretty similar player to Wes Matthews.

But if that three way trade happend I would be really happy.  Maybe if Rudy really wants to go to NYC and Portland wants a first instead of Wilson we could swing it.

Yes, I think Chandler would be a great backup for Pierce.

But, just for the record, my proposed "trade" doesn't make sense because the Cs would have to include a player making roughly the same amount as Chandler/Rudy, and there is no one that fits the bill (that can be traded now).

Good idea. I would definitely dig that deal. Personally I'd rather have Rudy, but if we could get Chandler out of the deal I would be all for it.

Chandler would have to worth more to Portland than our (late) 1st round pick. He is a proven starter on a bad team, a VG back up on a good team.  Few late first rounder's project out that well.

Not neccessarily because they have enough wings already.  They just signed Wes Matthews, which is the big part that makes Rudy tradable, and Chandler and Matthews are similar style players.  If they take on Chandler they will probably be burying him in the rotation too.  I'd rather play more minutes for Chandler than Matthews, but they paid him big money so they can't not play Matthews.

Not saying Chandler's talent level isnt above normal or less risky than the late pick, but they have other positions they would probably rather address, and they could do that with a pick.

They have non-guaranteed contracts for this season, meaning that they can be traded and immediately cut by the team acquiring them.

They could be combined in a deal to bring back just over $2 million in salary.

Yes that was my understanding.  Wilson would fall in that range too, as would Rudy.

Interesting.  So that's why Harangody wasn't signed until after Rasheed Wallace was waived (bc there was no room on the roster).

Acc. to Shamsports, Gaffney and Lafayette make $762,195 each.
Here's my math: $762,195*2 = $1,524,390
$1,524,390*125% = $1,905,487.50
$1,905,487.50+$100K = $2,005,487.50

That works for Rudy ($1.2M) but not Wilson ($2.1M).

Here's my  NEW math: $762,195*2 = $1,524,390
$1,524,390*125% = $1,905,487.50
$1,905,487.50+(2*$100K) = $2,105,487.50

That works for Rudy ($1.2M) but not Wilson ($2,130,482).

I don't think the roster spots matter until the end of camp.  Doesn't Miami have like twenty players signed (about a half-dozen of which are like Gaffney/Lafayette?)
