Don't really like this trade. We trade away two bigs, leaving us with only Shaq, JO, and KG. Thats not a good big man rotation. Plus I don't like nor have I ever liked Beasley. He was a great college scorer. That's it. Was never a great college player never mind a great NBA player. I think he has great athletic ability and size but his demeanor is off. I don't think even the Celtics could change his ways.
I think we should be fine for the time being. We will start the season with what we have and if need be, trade for a wing at the trade deadline. That is our best option. No one is available right now for the price we can afford. Trades are no longer available either because at the beginning of the season at least, we need Big Baby. He could be very valuable at the trade deadline however. Especially if Sheed does plan on coming back in February, that puts Big Baby on the block. Trade him, get Sheed to take his big man spot and get a decent wing from a team that knows it will not be contending this year.
Basically, IMO we are done trading/signing players. If anything, Danny will wait 'till the deadline to find something.
BTW, how come so many people hate on Perk?? I mean, dude is a BEAST. Statistically he was the best post defender in the playoffs and Dwight Howard has expressed several times that he hates playing against Perk. Perk is a monster and I don't understand why so many people want him gone. It always about him not being able to score. When you have four definite future HOF'ers on your team with a possible fifth in Rondo, that can ALL score the basketball you don't even really have room for another scorer. Taking Shaq out of the Equation, out of the starting 5 from last year, who would Perk take shots from?? No one. He is in there for one reason and one reason only. To play tough, physical defense and grab boards. He may not be great at rebounds, but he does play awesome defense. He is one of the better centers in the league and a perfect fit on the team. I hope he stays for a while, as long as he can come back and still compete after this injury.
