Count Paul Pierce among those on board with the Shaq Era in Boston. The Celtics captain, appearing in great shape, took a break from his basketball camp today to talk to reporters and chimed in on free agent signee Shaquille O’Neal. “I pushed (for it),” Pierce said of the Celtics’ big-time offseason acquisition. “I talked to Danny about it. (Danny’s) done a good job staying competitive, adding the pieces.” Boston Herald

He's completely right, too, although I think this shows that he's got fairly little faith in Daniels and/or Wafer.

can you blame him? Daniels was terrible at the end of last season, and has been barely able to last through a season at all in his career so far. Wafer is a nutcase who has never been known for his defense. Sure they might both work out, but I wouldn't bet on it.

OK, yeah I guess that answers my question! Sorry, although I don't think that was posted on the front page yet when i replied.
 Anyway, it'd be nice to have a better backup for paul, but i think he's oversteimating tony allen a bit - understandable since they'd been together for years. But I think they can still win it all with what they've got now. Not saying it's a given or will be easy, but they have enough to seriously contend and a slightly better backup 3 won't change that much.

I've never been a Tony Allen supporter, but with that said, don't underestimate the value of a backup wing that can defend kobe and lebron come playoff time.

Good interpretation.  I think that Pierce isn't sold on Von Wafer or Daniels,
but maybe he is attempting to influence a larger more for an upscale piece.

Pierce is absolutely right. We need one more piece. And i think it's obvious that the piece is a backup wing.

as for Sheed returning, i believe it's possible. It's happened lots of time before where one player leaves and comes back. Z in the Jamison trade. Gary Payton in our trade. I know there's a 30-day waiting period. for retired players, i dont know. Would anyone know if PJ Brown was officially retired or not?

c'mon DA! find us a legit backup 3!!

I think if we're willing to part with Perk, then JR swish, or Corey Brewer could be had in my opinion.. But more than likely we turn to jerry stackhouse or hughes!

I agree with our Captain too.  But let's all be realistic who could we get at this point to complete the puzzle?  We most likely will have to wait until near the trading deadline to get said piece

I think both Daniels and Wafer may certainly combine to give us a nice three man off guard rotation. I actualy like marquis in that role.

But Pierce is 100% correct that Mrquis as your main back up at the three is not going to cut it.
