There was a Rasheed Wallace sighting in downtown Boston on Tuesday. When asked if his career was indeed wrapped up, he replied: "Like Christmas."
Funny story from Sherrod Blakely to wrap it up once and for all on Sheed's retirement. We've known for weeks that his retirement is official but I found Sheed's (probably last) quote funny : QuoteThere was a Rasheed Wallace sighting in downtown Boston on Tuesday. When asked if his career was indeed wrapped up, he replied: "Like Christmas."http://www.csnne.com/08/17/10/Rasheed-Wallace-confirms-retirement/v1_landing_celtics.html?blockID=292022&feedID=3945I find it really surprising that there has not been a single "Rasheed Wallace tribute" article written since he has decided to retire. I know he wasn't in the NBA star system but, still, he was a big name of the game and very famous or subject to passionate debates between his fans and haters, so I'm really surprised (and disappointed) to see that no NBA-related website has paid him a tribute.

Who says Rasheed Wallace can't make the big shot? There are dozens of kids who were at Paul Pierce's basketball camp on Tuesday who feel otherwise after Wallace's 3-pointer meant each of them would receive a free t-shirt.It was the first public appearance by the 6-foot-11 Wallace since Boston's Game Seven loss to the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Finals. After that loss, Celtics coach Doc Rivers said Wallace was going to retire. When asked by CSNNE.com about whether his NBA career was indeed wrapped up, Wallace responded, "Like Christmas."Wallace declined to comment further, but all indications are that the former All-Star will call the Boston area home for most, if not all of this season. In the past, Wallace talked about not wanting to uproot his children if he didn't have to.This fall one of his sons will be a freshman in high school, which may be a factor in his decision to stay.As long as Wallace remains in the area, rumors about a possible return won't totally go away despite the Celtics waiving him last week and him indicating that he is indeed retired. You can count Pierce among those who thinks a Wallace return to the Celtics will happen sometime prior to the playoffs, despite Wallace insisting that he's done playing."I told him, 'Go ahead, do all you need to do,' " Pierce said. " 'Take the kids everywhere. We'll see you in February.' "

@ Jevi's post...What a pansy. Throwing a guy out for "staring at me." Stern should be so proud... When I see videos like this, part of me hopes the NBA locks out for a couple years.
