This is obviously talking about his jumpshot.

What do we say about Rondo?  The first thing and arguably the only thing he needs work on, like serious work on, is his jumpshot and free throw shot.  Is he getting the work he needs to on his shot when he's playing for the US team this summer?

Maybe he is...but if he struggles yet again this year with his shot and doesnt make any obvious improvement...could this summer be a point of blame?

In the big games, Rondo's done a decent job shooting. IMHO the more big game experience he gets the better.

List of ways how Rondo playing on Team USA will help his game for the Celtics:

-Leadership
-Learning from Chauncey Billups
-Get more experience playing against zone defenses
-Make a bigger name for himself so he can start getting superstar calls
-Practice free throws in a game environment
-Practice pressuring full-court
-Pick up some of KD's humbleness

Rondo hits the shots he needs to.
How can that be when he often doesn't even shoot the shots he needs to?

That doesn't prove your point. Just because there are shots that were hit in wins doesn't erase the problem of open shots not taken or missed in losses.

It's like saying it never rains because it was sunny on Saturday and Sunday. Sure, but it rained today.

No, playing should not be blamed. He didn't have the same commitment last summer and he had plenty of shooting issues this past season.

How is playing against good competition while learning from some other top coaches a bad thing for a young PG?

Those were all critical shots during the playoffs. Do you want the regular season as well?

No his inability to hit and make shots is just about confidence. Good shooters are confident they are going to hit shots that is why they take them and make them.

Rondo is confident in taking the ball into the paint and as a result he is one of the best finishers in the league. Once he builds up his confidence it will be only be a matter of time before he starts taking and hitting more shots.

Regardless the more shots that he takes when teams leave him wide open (if they go in or not) the better it is for the team. It will keep the defense honest since they will have to guard against it since he will probably hit about 50-60% of his wide open shots as opposed to the average of about 75% of 85% for players at his position.

Cause he's not spending hours in the gym everyday just taking shot after shot

How do you know he is not working on that?

What we do know is he is on the court.

no but I really think shooting jumpers and free throws in game situations will be much more beneficial to him than shooting them in a gym by himself. Think of this as a sort of training camp for him.

All I can say is improved Rondo shooting (jumpshot and FT shooting) is the single most impactful thing that could occur to improve this team.  I can't see anyone stopping this team if defenses have to play him honestly.

That said, I have no idea whether Team USA experience will help his shooting -- or whether he is getting just as much shooting practice as would have otherwise.

I do think the experience will help him overall in the long run.
