ESPN.com sources: Hornets and Raptors have also agreed to a separate trade that will send Julian Wright to Toronto for Marco Belinelli

Don't know how I feel about this deal.

Belinelli would make a nice backup point guard for New Orleans.

Julian Wright wasn't going to work out for the Hornets. Good choice to move him. A bit disappointed they couldn't get more but Wright had disappointed for two straight years now so his value would have been low anyway.

Good move for the Raptors. Wright is the more talented wing player and he will offer more to that team than Belinelli does since Calderon + Jack have the point guard position locked down.

It's a pity the Celtics couldn't have gotten in on this deal and stolen Wright. He would have been a fantastic addition. One of the better wing defenders in the league today + a quality rebounder + great size/athleticism. Just what the Celtics needed. Lots of potential as a role player once he finds himself a home (similar to Ariza's situation when discarded by Orlando).

Hornets have been busy today.

Wright, Collison, and Posey for Ariza and Bellinelli. Not sure if that's much of an upgrade.

Makes me wonder what they're angling for.

Belinelli? A PG? Forget it.

Good points on Wright.  He really had no mentors at his position in New Orleans too.  Had Paul but not anyone to really watch or team him within his position.

It's just New Orleans landing a backup PG for an underperforming wing who's possibility of starting for this team just got taken by Ariza.  Makes sense for both I suppose.  Any move that gives the Raptors someone who is a little physical and not just a jumpshooter has to be seen as a positive.

Again, you're mixing up your positions. Belinelli is a SG thru and thru.

I disagree. Belinelli has a very good handle and is a good passer. I also think the added amount of time he'll be spending on the ball will reduce some of selfish scoring traits because he knows the ball is coming back to him.

Belinelli played well as a point guard for Don Nelson and I think he has good potential at that position.

As a shooting guard, Belinelli is a low level player who isn't good enough to be a rotation worthy player. Not much potential for improvement here either due to his limited defense/rebounding contributions.

Good points, thanks Who I agree, but also who else is playing some backup PG on that Hornets roster if he is not?  Marcus Thornton?  It's one or the other and I see it being Bellinili, he has played some PG and been good there and Marcus brings better rebounding and defense at the SG position, areas Marco is lacking in.

Not seeing it. Here are his stats in the NBA:

Paul Pierce is a good passer. Shaq is a good passer. It doesn't make you a PG.

Not saying the Hornets won't have him handle the ball some, but i seriously doubt they traded for him to be their back-up PG. Take a look at their roster -- they don't have any back-up 2s (besides the aforementioned Mr. Belinelli) either...

Meanwhile, they have ample roster spots -- I'd imagine they'll sign an Earl Watson type for the minimum.

Man, I am not feeling very good about my NBA opinions right now. I thought both Wright and Belinelli would be stars in the NBA.
