I expect a guy like Bobby Simmons or Jarvis Hayes.  If we get one of those two, and trade Rasheed for a trade exception, I'll be okay with it.

TP. Excellent idea that I don't recall seeing yet. Bobby Simmons must have done something right for the Clips to give him that contract. Jarvis I have liked since he played for Detroit, but he is injury prone and not known for his defense. Maybe 10 minutes per game would leave him healthy and able to play good team D and hit those open jumpers.
Can't stop, Rondo!

Trenton Hassell as the defensive backup? Probably too inept on offense. But he'd be situational for when opposing SFs are just too big to use Daniels/Wafer. But if they go the vet min. route i could see Hayes or Simmons and be happy. Or if a trade for an SF goes down, I'd be happy adding Amundson as an extra big for the min.

I like Hayes but am starting to feel like the Cs are looking at a straight buyout of Sheed's contract instead of moving him.

hoping that Danny can swing something, but not sure that is in the cards at this point.

Post Sheed, I'd say our best options are: Jared Dudley, Carlos Delfino, Jamario Moon and Renaldo Balkman.

We need rebounding, defense and hopefully shooting behind Pierce.

Dudley and Delfino would be fantastic, but I don't think either will be traded.

Would you do Baby for Moon if we could sign a guy like James Singleton as an interim 4?  I would.

I'd wait.  Daniels, Wafer, and/or Bradley may surprise us.

Also, as the Cavs realize more and more that they aren't going anywhere, a firesale may ensue.

The playoffs don't start until April, so I think we should probably have some patience.

I'm fine with Wafer and Daniels as the backup wings... you have Wafer for shooting + Daniels injury. If we go after another wing, it should be someone with a chance of guarding elite threes and the ability to contribute on offense, otherwise they are not likely to help the team. Still high on Dudley and Williams, but with Sheed gone, things got harder.

Yeah.

I really don't want to see Larry Hughes......

I like this list a lot better than Hayes and Simmons.  Balkman would kind of replace Tony Allen.  He would be an interesting addition.

Of course it's a better list; those guys are all under contract with other teams, and aren't available for the veteran minimum.

In the case of Dudley and Delfino, it would probably cost BBD + a #1 for them.  Moon has less value, but salary wise, we'd probably still need to include Baby.

For Balkman, he's got three years left at less than $2 million per season, so Denver may be okay moving him for just expirings and a #2, since he doesn't get consistent time.  The question for Danny would be, does he want to commit three years of salary to a fringe role player?

For the veteran minimum, there are four wings that appear to be available

SF Types
1. Bobby Simmons - Pretty good perimeter shooter who uses his body defensively and gives good effort.  He is a little slow footed to keep up with most SF

2. Jarvis Hayes - Another good shooter, but his feet on defense concern me

SG Types
3. Delonte West - Leaves us without a legitimate SF backup to Daniels unless you believe in Gaffney.   Like his versatility, though he is another undersized 2 on a roster that already has Robinson and Bradley.

4. Larry Hughes - He's good, not great defensively, and is probably the best offensive player on this list even if he takes some horrific shots.  IMO, he would be used in a role that probably fits his ability if he comes and at the minimum ... he's probably the guy that I choose.

How about Walter Herrmann? Played well with Detroit. Long pesky SF that can hit 3's very well. No, he wouldn't be a good One on ONe defender against LeBron, but he'd be long enough to slow him down and allow the help defender to get their and cause a turnover
