The guy that I share a fence with in my backyard is Terry Glenn's uncle. I found out when both of our dogs started chewing through the fence we share. He tells me his  nephew is a professional football player "but i've probably never heard of him"

I know he's a lil more famous in new england than he is nationally but c'mon, everyone knows who terry glenn is lol. I proceeded to tell him that his nephew was one of the fastest guys in the NFL he was just a screw-up off the field lol

He had no idea how famous his own nephew was it was pretty funny.

And for the record he showed me pics of him and his wife with terry at thier house, so I know he wasnt full of it lol
Andy Bernard doesnt lose constests. He wins them, or he quits them because they're unfair.

used to trick or treat at Reggie Lemelin (sp)'s house

Don Sweeney lives pretty close, he used to come in the store I worked at - very down to earth guy

Sheed lives 2 towns over from where I am

My friend is a property manager in buildings where Paul Pierce and Jonathan Papelbon have lived

Bailey Howell was born and raised 30 minutes from me in Middleton, TN.
(so was Stevie Hamer, however that doesn't count as a famous athlete I'm afraid. Todd Mundt was also fairly local from Jackson, TN but not even as famous as Steve Hamer.)

Little known fact, every NBA basketball player from Hardeman Co., TN ended up with the Boston Celtics at some point.

Unfortunately, Mr. Howell had played his entire career and retired long before I was ever born. I understand he lives elsewhere now. I always had a pipe dream of getting in touch with him and talking with him about the Celtics glory days and getting some insight from the team. I might still try and do that someday.

Let's see:

Went to the same high school as Ray Allen (he was 3 years ahead of me since it was strangely only a 3 year high school so we weren't there at the same time) was in the same grade as one of his younger sisters.  Lived on the same military base as his family in the same neighborhood. My dad played cards with his dad from time to time at the NCO club on base. My nephew's father was on Ray's state high school championship team.

I met KG my freshman year of college (his rookie season) because he came to visit my college because his high school girlfriend (only did senior year in Chicago most of his high school was in Mauldin, SC) was going there.  He and his friends rode around campus in twin yellow range rovers which he looked strange in because he was so tall.

Saw Antwawn Jamison once in Charlotte at a movie theater he was cool.

Yeah that's about the extent of it.

I'm friends with the goalie of the Dutch national woman's water polo team. She won gold in the Olympics a few years ago. Was awesome to see.

Got to know her through the internet; we both have a passion for drawing, and we challenged each other a few times to draw stuff we don't normally draw. Sent about 200 emails back and forth with her.

One of my most prized posessions is a picture of my dad playing golf with Carl Yaztremski.

You're a Tar Heel?!? You just gained an instant friend. What year did you graduate?

As for me, I've met a bunch of athletes and relatives of athletes, (mostly through internships), my favorites being The Chief, Dee Brown, Larry Bird, Ryan Gomes, (probably the nicest guy I've ever talked to), Shaq's dad, Eric Montross, Rick Fox, Tyler Hansbrough, and Ed Cota, along with a bunch of college athletes from Miami, FSU and USF.

I also knew, (through medical visits), Tim Duncan and most of his family, while on internship at Juan F. Luis Hospital in St. Croix, (he was around 10 at the time, and was actually a star swimmer in his school, not a hoops player), the only hospital I've ever seen with wall-to-wall carpeting ... the sterilization problems were impossible! (I hope they've removed it by now).

Almost forgot ... the house I spent my first six years of life in, was sold to one or two other families, and then to Dave Cowans ... I'm not sure if he still owns it. It was in Deep Cove Shores on Sebago Lake in Raymond, ME ... we lived there year-round, but I believe it was just a summer place for him. It was a cabin when my folks bought it, they winterized and enlarged it, and it's been enlarged by others into a very big house now ... gorgeous spot.

I went to high school with Shawn Kemp and played with him as a freshman when he was a senior in '88. We went undefeated that year but ended up losing in the title game. Definitely bummed when the C's took Michael Smith at 13 and Kemp goes to Seattle with the 17th. I can only imagine that front line with the Big 3 and Kemp coming in off the bench.

Live about 5 minutes away from Randall Cunningham here in Vegas. Didn't even realize he lives just right around the corner from my house until I saw him in a Dunkin Donuts. Turns out he's a reverend now at his own church. Really sad to hear he had a 2 year son who ended up drowning in a pool at his home just a few weeks ago.

The guy who first got me interested in basketball years ago is Randy Livingston's cousin and when he became an assistant coach with the Red Claws I got a chance to go out to dinner with him. That was pretty cool.

Met Scalabrine for a quick minute when he was doing his Seeds of Peace thing.

And Greg Dickerson is from the same city as me. I always thought that was pretty cool. He's not an athlete, but oh well.

I also got a chance to get my picture taken with JoJo White and the 2008 trophy at UMO. He liked my hat, apparently and I joked with him and told him he should be the backup behind Rondo because there was no way he was older than Sam Cassell.

That's pretty much it, I think.
