I don't buy it.  I am sure they would rather play Horford at the 4, and I think it's his natural position. 
The Hawks GM Rick Sund has said in multiple interviews that he believes Al Horford is a center and not a power forward.

I don't see them switching Horford to the four while Sund remains in charge.

I think Shaq realized that he’d be a MAJOR piece in Atlanta getting to the finals. And that’s alot of pressure for a 38 year old man playing a kid’s game.

O’Neal recognizes that here he can play a part, not have unrealistic expectations from the fans, play with other players from his era, and ultimately compete for a title. Plus Atlanta is in the same division as Miami AND Orlando...
