With the news that Rudy Fernandez is likely headed to Chicago for James Johnson and a first rounder, has anyone else noticed that most of our wing targets this summer the Bulls have shown interest in too?  Is Thibs trying to make the Baby Bulls in his old teams image?

Before Rudy there was mutual interest in: Mike Miller, Josh Howard, Ronnie Brewer, Rasual Butler, and JJ Reddick.  I think there were a couple others I'm not thinking of too.

Also unrelated to above PLEASE NO LARRY HUGHES.  Ok just needed to get that out sorry.

There were a lot of reports earlier in the summer saying the Blazers didn't rate James Johnson. That they weren't interested in him.

That twitter report makes it sound like the Bulls haven't agreed to add a first round pick onto the Johnson package just yet. Without that pick, I can't see Portland considering this. With the pick? Yeah, probably the best they can do.

The equivalent of two first round picks.

That Bulls / Blazers trade sucks for the Blazers.  James Johnson is awful.

So, what you're saying is that two teams interested in signing wings tended to have the same opinion on who the best wing available was, leading them to go after the same guy, and that makes one team a copycat?

So is Rudy.  Never understood the hoopla over Rudy.

Not being among those who think Rudy Fernandez is a sure-fire All-Star, I'm in a state of Meh about the proposed Chicago trade. Whatever.

That's why I don't get it.

This would be a bad trade.  Johnson is no good and the Bulls then would have added 3 solid SGs.  They'd be deep but I wonder why you wouldn't get more talent instead of 3 or hold onto your cap room...  These guys aren't going to push you into the contender level.

I don't put much stock in it yet, but I'm still hopeful we will land Rudy and not Larry Hughes. Yuck.

Bulls 1st rounder is always an unknown quantity. What were we going to offer Portland? Rasheed's Ghost and a 2nd rounder?

No. Salaries don't match on Sheed for Rudy straight up.  It would need to involve another team or other players.
