Personally i've never heard of the guy until recently on these boards. His stats aren't that bad, but i'd just as soon pass and get someone a lil younger.

I'm not sure how he helps us in any way, and why we would have any interest at all in him. He's too old to defend well, and slightly too small to play SF, and he can't shoot. What good is he to us? I would rather have Scal.

Wallace will be traded at some point, freeing up at least one roster spot. I say send Erden to Maine. Not like he's gonna get much playing time in Boston anyway, unless there's a big-man catastrophe (let's hope not).

As for Hughes, he's only 6-6 ... kinda small for a SF. Not saying he couldn't help the team in some way, but it's not likely to be with rebounding.

If we are going to sign a player, we tell him and he files his papers. All indications have been that he has held off signing the papers to leave the trade option. If we are going to sign another vet min guy, we don't need that.

I think this is just Danny Ainge posturing. Maybe to fan the flames on the Rudy trade and make the blazers move a little. I just see this as a diversion of some sort. Because I see us getting Larry Hughes as a backup sf very improbable. Maybe it's even to get the Bobcats to move Diaw to us, to get him off their hands and payroll. Like many other posters have stated, he has no place on that team and he's getting payed a lot. My minds not too made up about bringing him in as our backup sf but he is a big body and he does have a few intangibles. But I was under the impression defense was not one of his strenghts. And really at this point that's what we need from our backup sf.

So then you think hughes is more valuable then sheed as a trade chip?

I don't see danny letting that trade chip go personally. And if he's traded there will be another player coming in for the spot. Which brings me back to my original point of saying erden is less valuable then wallace's contract.

Yeah, I don't think there's any way Danny would ask Sheed to sign his retirement papers just to sign Hughes.  If they decide to sign Hughes, it's almost a lock that they just eat Erden's salary and cut him.  Sheed's contract is far too valuable to just have him retire without using it, even if they don't use it until near the trade deadline.
