WRONG WRONG WRONG!

There ARE certain players I would continue to hate if they came to the Celtics. And no, it's not some cliche answer like "Kobe". I may despise the "Lakers" as a team, but that doesn't mean my hate imputes to the players. If Kobe were a Celtic, I would love that... I mean are you kidding??? Same with Lebron. I would be pumped. Who wouldn't be happy to see Lebron in a Celtics jersey?

Enough rambling, time for the list:

Allen Iverson - he's just a selfish, self-centered little ballhogging brat. i wouldn't be able to root for him if he were a celtic.

Tmac - i've never seen somebody try less on defense in my entire life. likes to blame everyone else for his own shortcomings. i'd be tolerable of him if he were playing well but i could never root for him or hope he has a good game. not unless he started being a team player and playing a little D.

Derek. Fisher. - i hate this little jerk more than anybody in the entire league. he's a cheap-shotting, two-faced mother f'r who actually flops more than manu ginobili but somehow doesn't get called out on it. i hate how he plays and how he acts on the court so much i think it's safe to say i'd probably dislike him as an actual person, and not just as a player. if he were on the celtics i would want to boo him but i wouldn't out of respect for the team.

Guava, you're right...but the people you are describing are about 1-5% of this board.

My point is this: there's probably at least 25-30 players names on this board.  If any of them came here, 95%+ of the people who said they hated these guys would change their minds.

And that's why I'm saying people are full of crap.

As I said, I hate Kobe and LeBron, but if they donned Green, I'd change my tune.
You have a point if it's a superstar who is going to help us win games.  As for me personally, I have secretly rooted for Antoine and Wallace 3's to miss, unless it's in the last minute or so of a close game.

derek fisher, kobe, artest, pau "llama" gasol, bynum..
darn, thats the lakers starting 5, what was the question again?:)

The thing is that I (we) root for jerseys, not for players. While the player that leaves the organization could or could be not respected after he leaves, I think that any guy that comes to the Cs will have my support, simply as that.

Kobe, LeBron, Dwight, Baron, Brad Miller, Ron Artest, Sasha Vujacic, Zaza Pachulia, Derek Fisher.

Man Bahku, you know I love you, and I would hate to lose you as a fan, but I would sell my soul to put all the players you couldn't root for on the Celtics.

PG Baron Davis/Derek Fisher
SG Kobe Bryant/Sasha Vujacic
SF LeBron James/Ron Artest
PF Zaza Pachulia
C  Dwight Howard/Brad Miller

Well, I have to admit, BDM, that this is a "gut reaction" thread/question for me, and no matter who ended up as a Celtic, I would have to root for them, in all seriousness. I am a Celtic fan through-and-through, and I root for the team and anyone on it.

I truly hated Sheed before he came here, (he would've been on this list easily), and likewise I did not like Sam Cassell or Stephon Marbury, and did not want them to come here, (some perusal of past threads would support this). But once here I learned to support them and root for them ... they were now Celtics, and I hoped they would add something positive.

In each of those cases I was pretty much vindicated with my original feelings, though I didn't want to be ... I wanted them to become big contributors to getting us where we wanted to be. Sam was OK, Steph did very little, and Sheed was pretty good, but in spurts only. Regardless, I wanted them to do their best, because the team needed them to do so.

The guys I listed are guys that I hate ... I just can't even stand to look at them, and it's a visceral, irrational hatred that's difficult to explain. It would be very hard to do so, but if anyone in the NBA became a Celtic, I would have no choice but to root for them while they wear the green, despite my intense, irrational, (or not), dislike for them. So in all honesty, I have to ammend my original, completely impulsive answer.

Just as though those players now hate the Celtics, I hate them in turn, but should they ever wear a green jersey, I will root for what's on the front of the jersey, and swallow my pride when it comes to what's on the back. I still support Sheed and I'm thankful for what he contributed in the post-season, limited as it was, but should he leave or retire soon, I will not miss him ... at all, (the same happened with Sam and Steph, and many others who have come and gone who did little as Celtics.

So I will ammend my original answer and say that these are players I dislike intently, but that no matter who ever wears the green of Celtic Pride, I will wish them the best and be hopeful that they contribute, play their best, and I will root for them as I would any other Celtic. :)

I can only think of two present players...LeBron and Kobe.  Past players....Lambeer, Rambis
Yesterday is history.
Tomorrow is a mystery.
Today is a gift...
That is why it is called the present.

Um?  You could replace Kobe's name with Iverson and it would be the same thing, except Iverson doesnt rape chicks...

  • It's all about the TEAM!

I would hate to see Lebron in a Celtics jersey. He just seems to be everything a Celtic isn't. The Celtics play as a team. Lebron is a Primadonna. I'd much rather see Kobe as a Celtic. Although he comes from the hated Lakers, you can tell he burns to win championships and knows it takes a team to do it.

I think Kobe would be a great player for the Celtics. I think Lebron would destroy the Celtics.
The Celtics aren't quitters. Why should you be? - blind homer

Kobe is the first name that comes to mind. Lebron is second. Rothlisburger 3rd. Tiger Woods 4th. A-Rod never! Brett Farve.

But I could see the possibility of becoming an apologist for all of them if they straightened up and flied right. I don't really feel like Kobe has done that yet.

And I'm dead set against Larry Hughes until he learns to shoot above 40%

I'd have to go with Gilbert Arenas, Manu Ginobili, D. Fisher, Pau Gasol, Andrew Bynum and Sasha Vujacic...basically the entire Lakers squad.
