Another consideration on the potential Shaq signing.

In Cleveland and in Phoenix, who, exactly, had a big enough personality, was a big enough alpha dog to motivate Shaq?

Nash? too nice
Amare? Not enough mental fortitude
LeBron James? A narcisstic adolescent child from a generation Shaq has no connection to.

Kevin Garnett?
Kevin Garnett?
Kevin Garnett?

You may see Shaq somehwat rejuvenated and inspired palying along side KG's intensity.

LeBron was/ is a narcissistic kid. He's 2 years old to Shaq.
Shaq isn't going to be driven by him.

But KG is a "driven" "man". He is one serious customer with a mjor attitude and a major mean streak.

Shaq knows this is absolutely his last chance to get a few more rings, seal his legacy.

If KG gets in his ear, along with the being around the dedication of Pierce, Ray and Rondo AND having the first coach since Phil Jackson who can also probably manage Shaq well?

We might see a much more motivated Shaq than in the apst few years.

Bonuses for Shaq:
He can help deny Kobe
He can beocme perhpas the only player in NBA history to raise banners with the Celtics and the Lakers...has anyone else done that?

So alot of angles for motivation to be successful.

TP, Scoobs.

Plus - has Shaq ever played with a PF as unselfish as KG? Not in LA, ORL, PHX or CLE. KG made every center he played with better, and he'll do the same with Shaq and J.O, too.

Perk (and Rasho Nesterovic in Minny) was the recipient of many good looks from KG over the years, and Shaq (and J.O.) will be no different.

You stole my line.  I was going to say that. :D

  • Rondo = Good
Shaq's game complements KG's better than any other Big the Celtics have had in the Big 3 era.  At last we'll have a player who lives to score in the post.

Now, Shaq is no longer very good and he's not going to win many games for us on his own, but I think he could really help us out in some key areas.

Yeah - good points. Perk converted a few of em', but Shaq adds a whole other dimension.

It's going to be awesome.  All the fumbled passes, turnovers and getting stripped turning into points!

Back in 2002, Shaq was disappointed that he wasn't a part of the Celtics-Lakers rivalry, when the Nets had advanced to the finals.

Now, he gets his chance. I suspect that he'd rather have played with Pierce on his side than Kobe all those years back.

I can't remember how many times I saw the other 4 Celts walking up the floor with their heads down after Kendrick Perkins tried 6 upfakes before then finally losing the ball off his foot.

To have someone like the deisel who can actually finish the easy buckets will be huge.

Not to mention someone to foul players like Lebron, Wade, and Kobe when they slash the lane.

I call this a great signing.

As a side note, this is my first post, and have been reading your posts for a while.  You all are fantastic writers with very fresh ideas.  A nice break from sports radio.

Haha - I can just imagine this scenario:

June 2011 - Boston is defeating LA in game 5 or 6. In the final minutes, Danny is sitting up in the stands and he grins at Mitch Kupchak ;D.............

Priceless.
