The NBA won't release its 2010-11 schedule until Tuesday, but the Orlando Magic are expected to open the regular season in their new arena against Dwyane Wade, LeBron James and the Miami Heat, Don Muret of SportsBusiness Journal reports.

The season-opening Heat-Magic game will be played on Thursday, Oct. 28, and broadcast on TNT.

I was hoping for Celtics vs Heat on opening night, but since that won't happen, I hope Orlando beat the Heat.

Orlando will be hungry for this one... to prove to everyone they are still the kings of Florida.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
Dwight will dominate the paint the magic will win.

Probably true... but if LeBron reinvents himself as a modern day Magic Johnson and the Heat threesome play like they played on Team USA, they might drop 150 points a night.

Will he finally have offensive moves? And will VC defend Wade?

Howard isn't enough.

The big question is whether Miami will have chemistry yet, especially on defense.

Dwight will dominate down low because Miami has NO good defensive bigs. But, as stated above, Vince Carter and Rashard can’t cover anything.

Dwight- 28pts 14reb
Vince- 18pts with a horrible percentage

Lebron- 20pts 11ast 8reb
Wade- 30pts, 4ast
Bosh-20 pts, 9reb

I’m betting on a Heat win.

Is this thread about only the first game between the two or the season and potential playoff matchups? Sorry, I read it real quickly. The heat will win the season series and any playoffs matchup as well. Lebron will show everyone in the league why he is undoubtedly the best player in the game. A modern day Magic Johnson comparison may be similar but Magic never had Lebron's scoring ability. He also never had his athleticism. We will finally see how good this guy really is. Arguments that say well his team won 66 games or whatever are irrelevant as they won that many games because of Lebron.

Dwight dominated Atlanta this year because they had no one to defend him. Miami's interior D should be no different. Doubling Dwight will then lead to open shooters all over the court. Magic will have a good shot, imo.

Again? Hopefully not.

I'd rather have C's vs Lakers or C's vs Heat.

I read this on another board:

SedanoShow My TV source tells me Turner wants Heat to host Celtics & Boston not happy about defending Eastern Champs opening on the road

Jorge Sedano from Miami radio station

If it does turn out to be Celtics vs Heat then it better be in Boston, because last season the opening game against the Cavs was in Clev.

Dwight only needs post moves when he can't push you around. There aren't too many guys that Dwight can't move at will. BBD, Perk, Shaq, and that's about it. Dwight demolished Ilguaskas in 09 during the ecf it will be no different against MIA.

I thought that too, but when I think about it, only the last two Christmas' did we play on the road. Two out of the last three season openers were at home ('07 vs Washington, '08 vs. Cleveland, but obviously the latter was mandatory). The past two Easters we alternated with Cleveland.

It is what it is. Obviously I expect a big matchup opening night, my guess would be Chicago. Christmas, I don't know if we can face Orlando again, maybe Houston? I expect Easter to definitely be Miami (I would say Miami on Christmas, but you know they want them and the Lakers that day).
