Kinda scratching my head on why Chicago would do this.  They need quality interior players.  Gibson is great to have off the bench and adding Rudy at the sacrifice of Gibson is awfully risky, IMO.

Taj Gibson is a nice player. Very good complementary piece offensively. Solid finisher around the rim. Has good range on his jump shot (out to 20 feet) which he hits at eFG% of 41%. Athletic, runs the floor well.

He is a plus rebounder. 7.5 boards in 27 minutes, 10 per 36 minutes or a rebounding rate of 15.4%. Defensively, he struggled at the start of the year but he improved as he went on and was close to average by the end of the year. He should become a plus defender in the near future.

Good glue guy already and as he improves defensively he could become a very good to excellent role player.

We got Von Wafer why not get him a Taj, like Van Wilder...

How many wings do we need? Let's look at things rationally. You're saying that those three guys should be enough for them. Yet, our FOUR wings (Paul, Ray, Quisy and Wafer) are not enough? How does this make any sense at all? I think it was pretty obvious as soon as we signed Wafer that we were out of the running for Fernandez. Rudy wanted a trade because he was unhappy with his minutes. How would he get enough minutes here to make him happy?

Deng/Korver/Brewer are quality wings that are young. Pierce and Allen are old and Daniels and Wafer are wildcards. It would make no sense for Chicago to sacrifice their big man depth to shore up their swingman depth...that's not a formula to win in this league.

I don't think the Wafer acquisition rules out any Fernandez trades. Wafer is a 14th/15th roster man that is one of those low risk/high reward type gambles and there's not a chance that Ainge has penciled him in for rotation minutes next year.

The Von Wafer who played in Houston 2 seasons ago was MUCH better than a 14th/15th roster man.

lol... can't believe some people have sold themselves on Von Wafer.  That's almost as pathetic as people thinking that whatshisname from Norte Dame is a rotation player.

What a bummer.  I liked the idea of Fernandez.

My problem with BBD isn't that he's "fat".  It's that he isn't good. Not sure I've ever seen anyone get blocked as much as that guy.  Most his shots are wide open layups and he still manages to fumble them.  He's not a good rebounder.  He's not a good defender.  He's got a lot of heart and ego, but that does me no good.

I like that you are sticking to your guns, though and still rockin the Pittsnoogle avatar.

Seriously... be honest... the Celtics could announce they signed Yakhouba Diawara, and half yall would sell yourselves on him being a key addition.

I agree.  I think Danny thinks he'll get regular rotation minutes this year.  I'm guessing Danny thought Portland was asking for too much for Rudy, and he went with Wafer, who is way, way cheaper, and doesn't cause us to give up any other assets, and if he plays like he did two years ago, there probably won't be much qualitative difference between him and Rudy anyway, at least not enough difference to make it worth meeting Portland's demands.  But who really knows what his thought process is?

is there any actual update on Rudy? I thought the blazers where supposed to talk about it yesterday. People are talking as if he is already traded to chicago, but I haven't seen anything about where he is going yet.

Baby was the only guy who was rebounding against the Lakers.  He did a commendable job against the Magic when Garnett was out.  Despite his severe lack of height, he can creditably guard behemoth centers.  Is he an all-star?  No.  Is he the bum you're making him out to be?  No.

Baby had some huge games.  He makes the most of his limitations and seems to try his butt off.  He's not good, though.  He's expendable.  He's one of those "characters" who comes through once in a while and fans fall in love with despite the fact he stinks... a Walter McCarty, for example.

Given Marquis' injury history, I'd bet that Danny would still be interested in getting Rudy.  Portland, though, probably wants to get more than a #1 and a couple of non-guaranteed contracts for him and I don't think Danny is willing to offer more than that.

Fernandez can't guard SFs, therefore he's not really useful as Daniels' injury insurance.
