Do We Still Need A Defender?

We needed a defender that can defend the 2/3.  Do we have that in Marquis or do we still need a defender?

I'm not sure the C's are still after Rudy, as he's not much of a defender at the 3 spot.  I want the C's to go after Corey Brewer.  He's a young, long defender.  Not a great shooter, but his shot seems to be improving.  Could be a good replacement for Tony.

I wonder what it would take to get him.  Doesn't seem like Minnesota needs him, as they are crowded at the 3 spot.

His name is Marquise Daniels. In my opinion we need another big because JO, KG, and BBD aren't enough and will get burnt up by February if neither has an injury before then. Don't talk to me about Semih. At this point I am hoping Sheed comes back because I have a feeling we are done adding wings. Disappointed Von Wafer was our pick up over Delonte and Rudy. Wafer can score but he is a very poor man's JR Smith. Hopefully Nate will be much more consistent this year and be that 10-14 ppg bench player we have ben looking for. Also hopefully Davis has the big year we thought he would last year, regular season wise, because in his fourth year he should be very ready to shine. KG's minutes will likely decrease even more so there should be ample opportunity for BBD.

i think the chances are slim that we pick up another 2/3 defender before the off season is up. Dany feels that Marquis can be that guy. Doc most likely feels the same way.

If marquis doesnt work out then there are always buy outs in early March which could be beneficial to us (Finley, Marbury, Moore, Cassell, P.J. Brown) probably just being hopeful but maybe tayshaun prince gets bought out to play for a contender.

A great player for Battier and other parts. The Rockets just traded away David Andersen and cut around 3 mill in salary by doing so. They no longer need Sheed's contract.

I think DA might be holding out to see what GS will do with Monta and or Biendris.

I remain convinced the Wolves may be one of the only teams to pursue Monta Ellis. If so, the Cs should pursue Brewer, with Sheed's deal going to GSW as part of the deal.

I think Danny might want Biendris more than Monta at this point but I would be more than fine with either since they would be a reserve this year. When healthy Biendris is a top five rebounder and he can move pretty well in transition. He is like Foster from the Pacers on steroids.

I wouldn't underestimate Marquis.  He did a nice job on LeBron last year. 

I think the plan is to use him and possibly even Avery Bradley on some 2s (maybe D-Wade).  If there's anything Bradley comes in with reputation for, it's his defense, and that's rare for a rookie.

Good though and post. I would argue the reason we aren't holding the trophy right now is due to our lack of ability to score, not defend. Paul, Ray, and Marquis are more than capable of defending the 2/3. We needed offense off the bench in that 4th quarter and once Sheed went out we had no way to put the ball in the basket against their second unit. Forget the defenders and give me someone who can create their own shot and score at will.

No no. I'm saying Ellis goes to Minnesota, Brewer goes to the Cs, Sheed goes to the Warriors. Others obviously need to be involved, but you get the point....

Better than giving up a 1st for Rudy Ferenandez. Doc won't hesitate playing Brewer in crucial moments because he can defend. His 3 ball is also coming along nicely. @ ssspence, 3 way deal would be nice.

Dang, now I really want Corey to be a Celtics. None the other names excites me as much as Corey. Ainge needs to be on this quick.

I think the Celtics SG/SF defense will be fine with Pierce, Ray, Daniels and who ever else they add as long as they sure up the post/help defense down low till Perk returns. 


They need one more big body that can play good help defense at least until Perk is ready to return.
