So we can cross off Josh Howard from our list as well, and really hope that DA gets us Rudy.

That's a pretty steep discount.  I guess he'll only be playing half a year anyway so it's probably equal to 8 mil a year.

I would think that this means the Fernandez deal is awfully close to being done. I can't imagine them letting Howard take 4 mil with the Wiz w/o a backup plan.

Nice risk/reward signing for Washington.

I hope Josh Howard can get his career back on track.

Dang it.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

If Howard is going off the market and Boston lands Rudy, what is there left to do with Sheed's contract?  Unless Ainge can trade it to a team under the cap for an exception or they're willing to pay Sheed to sit at home, he's got to deal that contract for somebody this offseason.  With a back up 1, 2, 3 and 4 on board, along with Avery and the Gody, who could the Celtics make a play for?

I don't want to again mention a certain 7'1'', 400 pound center with 4 championship rings...but what are the other worthwhile options?  Unless Przbylla is coming over with Rudy, is there any other move to make?

I appreciate Howard's loyalty to Washington. I have rad that he said he was really thankful they got him out of a bad situation in Dallas. He took a discount to stay in Washington. I like that.

Hopefully DA gets the deal for Rudy done. At this point I would like to see one of two scenarios with Sheed's contract.

1) Bos sends Rasheed Wallace, Tony Gaffney and Oliver Lafayette to New Orleans for David West. NO is looking to dump salary to make room for Melo next summer. This would be the perfect piece to go with our team. West is a scoring PF who could play with Baby, Perk or JO off the bench. This would really give our bench a boost, as he could fill major minutes for KG. Nate, Rudy, BBD and West are all capable of scoring 20 on a given night.

2)We talk Portland into including Oden or Pryzbilla in the trade for Rudy. I doubt they would trade Oden, even though he is a reserve, but if they say no, go for Pryzbilla. Even though he is out until Dec/Jan, we he gets healthy, he adds another big, strong rebounder to wear down Miami, Orlando and the Fakers. I guess we sign Josh Boone or Kwame to the min or live with Semih as the 4th big until Pryz and Perk are healthy.

I don't think New Orleans is going to give us West for that package.  Moreover, I don't think he's a huge help unless we're going to deal Baby for a big.  West is another undersized power forward.

I also don't think that Portland is going to hand us Oden or Pryzbilla.  They have a very wealthy owner and don't need to do that.

Maybe Rudy was the first option and Howard was the backup plan for Ainge. Rudy is younger, healthier, and possibly more talented overall.

I was said to see this. With some of the deals that have been thrown around this year this is a steal for the wizards. How is this guy getting paid half as much as drew gooden and less then Darko...

he's coming off major knee surgery, will likely miss half the season, and has had drug use (marijuana) and attitude problems in his previous team, so a one year 4 million deal to redeem himself is a fair deal.

Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.
