I didn't even realize we had a team...what's this for & does anyone really care?

J/K :)

As far as I know people care mainly because Rondo's on the roster (thus far).

No most people on here care about it because we love any basketball in general.  I love international basketball even though a lot of the times I hate players on the team, but I put that aside and cheer for them because it's my country.

Yea, I hate to admit it but I'm one of those people. I'll also be taking a close look at Turkey, though. Erden's on their national team. I think he might even be their starter.

That'd work for me except for Rondo.  Don't want him risking injury for a collossal waste of time.

To say this is somehow patriotic is a freaking joke.  It's a meaningless waste of time.

Except this is where the stars come together and start planing their future together.  Need Rondo there to convince guys that Boston is a great place to play.

I'm not going to go the way of patriotism on this subject, but I do think it'd be a good experience for Rondo and there are things he coudl gain by being able to compete internationally alongisde a new cast of very talented characters.

Good point we didn't have that in '08.

I understand where you are coming from, but really now -- playing so that your country can be viewed as the best is something to be proud of? I don't see why you should be any more proud of that than playing to show your team is the best.

I think the people who should be proud are the ones who make efforts to make life in the country better, not individuals who contribute to the us versus them mentality.

That being said, I support players who join the national team because they want that sense of accomplishment.

For me:

Chandler/Lopez/Lopez
Durant/Odom/Love/Lopez
Igoudala/Granger/Odom/Love
Curry/Igoudala/Westbrook
Rose/Rondo/Westbrook/Curry

I'd have no problem swapping Curry for Mayo and/or Love for Green, and they should keep J. Kidd as an assistant coach or give him some title to pay him to dole out wisdom.

And it definitely means something to represent your country. Think of it as representing your team on a bigger scale but on a smaller stage.

Wait wasn't Tyson Chandler invited to camp? They are cutting Gerald Wallace, Evans and Mayo but Chandler gets to stay on the team? I know they play different positions but come on.

They don't have a lot of depth at the Center position.  That's why JaVale McGee may not get cut.

I thought both McGee and Chandler played really well. I've always liked the way Chandler plays.

I haven't seen the scrimmage yet and didn't watch the practices so I wouldn't know.
McGee looked extremely athletic against the Celtics last year. With another year of experience and John Wall running the point I expect him to make the jump.
Chandler is only getting worse not better.
If Chandler plays, I bet he starts the nba season on the injured list.
