T-MAC still an option? Bulls passing on McGrady?

Looks like the Bulls felt his physical condition was good BUT he attitude towards coming off the bench was not.

Too bad that is what we need. Maybe he'd swallow that pride for a contender with HOF'ers like the C's?

I still wouldn't want him for anything more that vet min. That knee is just too shaky.

Maybe he would be more willing to come off the bench to back up guys like Paul Pierce and Ray Allen. Rather than Luol Deng and Kyle Korver/Ronnie Brewer.

I'm somewhat surprised the Bulls are so set on wanting McGrady to come off the bench.  I mean, while I don't expect him to, if he can surprise the league and actually pull a full season together without much injury trouble, thats a more than legitimate starting two guard for the Bulls.

Would they prefer Ronnie Brewer? C.J. Watson? Kyle Korver?

Personally I think Ronnie Brewer is overrated and I think Korver and Watson are more of pure bench pieces then starting pieces.

I'm not saying McGrady is going to be good this year.  But with his specific situation and with what he's accomplished in his career, he has exactly the attitude I think he should have.  "No, I'm not done.  I can still play starters minutes, I can still light it up any night I want.  I just need to prove it."

Wouldn't surprise me one bit if McGrady goes elsewhere and dominates and the Bulls look at themselves and say "uh...wups."

Don't call him T-mac anymore. He's shot as a starter, but I would sign Tracy if he was willing to come of the bench as a scorer. Even asking him to be a defender would be too much ask. His knee won't allow him to stay in front of people. T-mac as we know him died in Utah in the playoffs in 08'.

If he really does look good tell him to come here and we'll give him 25 minutes a game backing up Paul and Ray.  He's got to at least be better than Marquis Daniels.  There aren't any other options with as much upside.

I'd again go with the notion that beggars can't be choosers.  

Are there other options that I'd prefer?  Sure.  But if they don't pan out, he's worth a roll of the dice.  

Too many people are acting like those that suggest T-Mac, Shaq, and the like are suggesting that we choose these players over significantly better other options and that we sign them to maximum deals.  

We're talking about having limited options and perhaps rolling the dice on former stars at the minimum.  If all other options dry up, I don't see how that hurts us.  We're not some young team that's going to fall apart with a little regular season drama.  If things don't work out, we cut these guys.

I think if either party the Celtics or himself became interested in one another I think he would know he's not a starter on this team.  He's not taking Paul or Ray's spot whereas I think maybe he thought he had a better chance of starting than Deng or Ronnie Brewer.  Guess we'll see what happens.  The Bulls might be wise to pass on McGrady though if he thinks he can compete as a starter not a headache Thibs wants to manage as a first time coach.  I think McGrady could work in Boston only because if he was signed it would be with Doc's blessing (a big IF) but if Doc okayed it, that would mean Tracy understands he's a role player not a starter and what his expectations are.   Don't see it happening though but stranger things have happened.

Always sad to see superstars subcomb to injuries/ego trips/whatever. I really love T-Mac, and at one point he was No1 player in the league, but I m not sure that he fits here. If we must have one high risk player in celts I d prefer Shaq, having both of them in roster could disrupt the teams chemistry, and frankly chemistry is what is keeping us contenders right now.

All one has to do to see what a complete tool McGrady is and why he wouldn't fit into the clubhouse of any team is to read his comments regarding the Chicago situation.

"Without me, without [Carlos] Boozer, they're a .500 ball club,"

"And with the guys that they added, if they add me, I think we'll be 30 points better. I think we'll be a better defensive team with Thibodeau, who I played with for three years."

"This was a great team, a pretty good team, without adding myself and Carlos Boozer, and some of the key players that they added this offseason,"

"I think we can be really good, I really do."

The guy is dissing the team that was there before him and Boozer got there. He's claiming he and Boozer alone make them 30 PPG better. He's already including himself as part of the team.

The gall and ego on this dude is out of control.

Stay clear of the ego driven, me first always, prima donnas. They will ALWAYS hurt your team more than they help them. So no to McGrady. Say no to Iverson. Say no to Shaq unless it's a vet min so that you can throw him out on his ass if he starts acting up.
