I only wish he could do something about the looks of his jumper, it hurts my eyes every time he shoots, it looks as he is breaking his elbow every time

Ya, strange/ugly shot, eh?  It's like a baseball player who still throws like a girl.  How did he make it this far without someone correcting that shot?  I know you don't want to mess with results, but that shot is SOOO blockable, it's a liability.

if it's so blockable, how did he make it this far?  I hate to bring back Marty Conlon into my memory, but he had an ugly as sin jumper, which I can't remember ever being blocked..

Shawn Marion managed to do well with a chest set-shot.

Agent for #Celtics 2nd round pick Luke Harangody said he and Danny Ainge will likely sit down this week and try to hammer out deal.

Via A. Sherrod Blakely.  As we all figured Harangody is going to get signed.

Mortal lock...err I mean congrats and I look forward to watching BBD/Harangody team up to do damage on the rest of the league and to the phsyche of those enamored with legnth and overly concerned with blocked shots.

he's a bum.  He's not going to do crap in this league.  He might be a solid addition to the bench of our DLeague affiliate, though.

Gotta love getting the #4 ranked rookie in summer league in the second round. I know its summer league but still.

From what I have seen he is a lil more athletic than people are giving him credit for, he's got a good turn-around mid-range jumper, he's good at getting open off of screens quickly.. havent seen much from his defense yet tho.. but no one comes in and dominates as a rookie, he should have his ups and downs..

At least he's on a veteran team, that should help expedite his growth process

Who ranked him #4?  I checked the summerleague page on nba.com and he wasn't anywhere in the top 10.

You are basing this on what?

Appearance.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

I'm sure 'Gody has been told the same thing at every level..."you're too slow, can't run, can't jump, you shoot your shot too low, it will get blocked"..., etc.

I'm sure alot of colleges passed on him because of it. He goes on to lead the Big east in both scoring and rebounding for two seasons ( something no one else has ever done ) and become the second all time scorer and 3rd all time rebounder in the league...

Here's everythign you need to knwo about Harangody...there was a play in summer league where he pump faked a big man on the baseline...guy takes the bait big time and is comes crashing down towards Harangody. Most guys would take the contact but shy away a little so the guy doens't land full force ofn you. Harangody? Throws his entire body, head first, into the contact...basically initiating a harder foul on...himself.

The guys is:

1. Tough as nails

2. Has an NBA motor and body ( strength wise )

3. He's not fast, but he's alot quicker than people give him credit for. He's gets to his spots very quickly off screens

4. He beat out everyone in the combines on bench press strength skills, including all the 300 pound mooses like Cousins and so forth.

5. he has an unusually long wing span for his size, which is why...he can rebound better than expected.

6. Has a nose for the ball.

7. He "plays basketball" and he's relentless about it.

8. He's the type of guy that helps you win games.

I could care less about how his shot looks. I actually like it. I think he'll eventually find a spot / role on our team. But I wouldn't plan on him taking Baby's job, I see him more at the 3 in general, the four when we go small.

That makes you 2 for 2 with you being right on BBD...

You are like my good luck charm.  Any opinions on Avery the rookie PG?  So I know to go the with opposite opinion.

I never want to hear the name Marty Conlon again.  I feel bad for white guys in the NBA because they always get compared to other white guys even if their games aren't similar.  I do it myself as I have been trying to find similarities in Harangody's game to that of Dan Majerle and I always compare him to Matt Harpring.

I guess i missed the memo on BBD somehow proving not to be a bum.   He's good for a handful of points and a few boards.   Mediocre bench player.  Maybe the Harogondy bum will overachieve into being a poor man's John Brockman.

0 Expectations for the Avery kid.  Maybe he'll be a poor man's Orien Greene.

To be fair, I don't put much stock into what he did in college and I sure as heck don't put any stock into him putting up double digits in the summerleague.  Big deal.  Joe Forte was a summerleague god.

I'm mostly just basing it on the fact that he was the 22nd pick of the 2nd round in a weak draft... and that there were 40+ crap players picked ahead of him.  He's a scrub.  If he was picked by any other team you'd think nothing of him.

My highly optimistic best friend swears that Harogody will have a john brockman-esque impact on this squad, though.  Here's hoping.

Yes but there is diff in getting young man like him and fit him in your desired spot in the team, and getting some vet min guy who will cash in the season and move on toward another vet min while he can.
Harangody can be melted into our scheme from the start and judging from the 2 SL games I watched he has bball IQ that will make him another hard working player who could at least bring something positive in garbage time and maybe more. What more can you ask from late 2nd round pick in a poor draft class?

My point is that there is at least 50 BBD type of pl,ayers in the league, but I think that not one could fit in as he does at this point in this cs squad.
Bottom line is that this kid is decent and could be better, another draft steal for DA.

This Kid is goin to be something someday, He's not a 20/10 guy in college for nothing and he's got some IQ and instincts on the court that you just can't teach, he already has a good range from the three point line, something this team badly needs so I agree that DA got himself another gem in the draft..Id like to compare him to what we all want Adam Morrison to be, except that Gody has got 5x more strength than Morrison, and I really think he's got better range. Not BAD for a 52nd pick.

Harangody is the evolutionary Scal.  It'll be interesting to see how he works out, but I'm glad it's looking like Danny made another smart 2nd rd pick.

And to remember how everybody hated the pick on draft night.  How a few summer league games can change things lol.

I don't think everyone hated the pick. Anyone who has watched Big East basketball the last few years knows this guy can score and has heart.  Doesn't mean he'll be successful, but as a late 2nd round pick a number of people liked it.
We all think we know more than we really do....
