Henry would make a nice wing for us.

On a related note what happened to the CelticsBlog Draft? I am spending way too much time with my friends and family.

Preach the good word reverend!

Henry would definately be a good addition to the team. We'd have some nice young talent going forward in Rondo, Davis, Bradley, Harangody and Henry.

I don't know if Danny is looking into this and is trying to set up with sign and trade involving TA (has TA "officially" signed yet?) and Sheed for Henry and Thabeet...

Making this move would solve the last things that Danny needs a wing and another big. I REALLY hope that DA can pull this off.

With Robinson in tow, would you trade Bradley and a #2 for Henry?

I guess Bradley was one of 2 guys Ainge was looking at in the draft so I doubt he would include him in that type of deal.

I keep reading people saying to do a sign and trade to Memphis with Tony Allen. Yet I have read many reports that declare that Memphis officially signed Tony over a week ago.

What's up? Has he signed or not? Local Memphis sports news sites are declaring it officially signed.

I'm not getting how Tony hasn't signed yet either.

TP to the OP  ;D  (Though I think the T-Wolves have to be the NBA's most confounding team)

Hilarious bit about the Rudy Gay signing was even he was surprised by it:

"I was surprised," he said. "Actually, I was really surprised. When I found out they did that, I was like, 'Wow.' "

Too funny.

Memphis is just run by idiots. Seriously.

I don't understand why they're hardballing this kid over $300,000 - when its customary for lottery picks to get 120% of the rookie scale when they just overpaid for Rudy.

Matter of fact, I'm still not getting why they didn't let Rudy get other offers since they had the right to match. Seemed like the panicked.

Rudy Gay would have gotten max contract offers anyway. Too many teams floating around with money -- NJ, NY, Chicago, Minnesota, LAC and Cleveland.

The Grizzlies had nothing to gain by waiting. Better to keep their player happy and make him feel appreciated. He was going to get the offer either way. The only decision left to make was whether they were willing to pay that much or not.

I commend the Grizzlies for not just automatically giving the 120%.  I mean seriously when did that become standard.  It is a 120% afterall, meaning more then should be given.  Mad props for the stones to do it and stick with it.

And it is a more then 300k, because every year after is also bigger.

Bigs - Shaquille O'Neal, Victor Wembanyama
Wings -  Lebron James
Guards - Luka Doncic

But doesn't that give Gay too little credit? That he wouldn't be able to keep a proper perspective on NBA business - as say restricted free agents David Lee and Paul Millsap did last season? Not all front offices are as tone deaf as the Hawks'.

Or failing that hard to believe Gay wouldn't put hard feelings behind him at some point over the course of his five year, $82 million dollar contract.

And while there was noise about the Clippers' interest, I'm not sure if they, or other clubs, would have been willing to tie up the bulk of their cap space for seven days early in free agency on a long odds signing.

But I see your point, and if we assume your right, then I'd still argue Wallace's next best option was a sign and trade, rather than going the Knicks/Allan Houston route. And either way, badly overpaying Rudy makes the team's miserly tactics since all the more dumbfounding.

Well, then you'll be happy to know that my perception of rookie scale contracts is wrong. (Who me?) And that performance incentives aren't as unusual as I'd believed.

Quote from: ShamSports
Most rookie scale contracts contain performance incentives. So widespread is it, in fact, that every first rounder signed [for the 2009-2010 season] has them except for Tyreke Evans, Jonny Flynn, Austin Daye, Eric Maynor, Darren Collison and Wayne Ellington. (Yes, even Blake Griffin). Lawson has them, too, and his case gives us a fine example of what these incentives can be. To earn the full 120% of his rookie contract that he signed for, Lawson has got to make five promotional appearances for the Nuggets, play in summer league, play in another two week summer skills and conditioning program, and play 900 minutes next season.

So, possibly, Henry and his agent Arn Tellem are objecting to the kind of incentives? So far no details are available.

Still, at what point does this become counter-productive? The learning curve for rookies is steep, Henry has already missed summer league and a golden opportunity to run alongside possible backcourt-mate O.J. Mayo. Should the Grizzlies be willing to let him miss some or all of training camp? Should they be willing to entertain a trade demand? (A tactic Tellem has used before and seen through.)

I wouldn't be surprised if Xavier Henry was his top choice to fall.   IMO, he'd be a perfect fit for this team as a backup .
