Why does Sheed buying toys at Wal Mart mean that "something is going to go down in the next day or two"???

Just saying that maybe his presence in the area means something is going down.  It has nothing to do with him shopping at Walmart.  He doesn't live here, does he?  If not, why would he be in Mass other than to talk with the Celtics?  Thats all I was saying.  [dang], why does someone always have to turn everything someone posts on here into a conclusion that something is DEFINITELY happening.  Not the case here at all.  Just curious.
I think the reason people were quick to jump on you celtsrp is because you quickly jumped to some conclusions yourself.

You assume Rasheed doesn't live in the area or keep at least a part-time residence in the area. He could.

You assume because you assumed the first thing that he is in town for something Celtics related. Could be he's here for a charity event or to interview for a post basketball position somewhere or because he is starting up a business in the area or because he is spending the summer in the area or because of any number of other completely innocuous reasons that have nothing to do with the Celtics.

Rasheed is in the area. That's cool. But if the Celtics were going to be talking to him, couldn't they just do it by phone since he's already under contract? And him being in town to do anything for his retirement makes no sense since the papers have to be filed at the league office and not through his team.

I think you jumped to a conclusion that most of the rest of us, just don't see so, we kind of gave you a little bit of a hard time over it. No biggie. All in good fun.

he's around with his family, just trying to help the other guys story...

I don't think it means anything personally, he probably has established a residence here, thinking he'd be here for 3 years

it is interesting that a multi-millionaire is shopping at Wal-Mart and eating at chain restaurants...

my friend works at a restaurant down the street from that Wal-Mart and he and his family came in and he served them.  He must live pretty locally.

He lives in Middleton.

What are you implying?

He lives in Hamilton or Essex, MA.

Stalker!  ;D

I wonder how often Sheed gets asked about his future? I would assume it gets tiresome after a while. Maybe ESPN can do "Ball don't lie" 2hr prime time special on Sheed's decision.

Would any of you leave $13million on the table and walk away?

Interesting. There would be no reason for him to be in Boston right now (buying TOYS no less, somewhat permanent home-ish items) if he wasn't planning on coming back/staying, but we'll see.

Well, Sheed has done a lot of charity work with kids, so I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the toys were for a school or something.

I think it is interesting that Sheed is still in MA, since he reportedly wanted to return to Portland, but I wouldn't read too much into it right now.  He may be just be tying up lose ends before moving back out there before the school year...or something completely random.

My guess is there is little connection between the Celtics, and Sheed still being in Boston at this moment...especially since many veterans live in different cities from where they play during the summer anyways.  If he is here, it likely has more to do with his life more than his basketball career.

At this point, both Danny and Doc have gone on record saying Sheed plans on retiring.  Until a credible source (not some reporter speculating) reports otherwise, that is what I am going to assume is happening.

But seriously, What is he doing in Danvers in July?  Is he working out in Waltham with Avery Bradley?  I doubt it.  There must be a good reason for him being here during this time of year.  I have a feeling that something is going down in the next couple days...

Here is my OP quote.  Did I really jump to conclusions by asking why he may be around here this time of year?  ...or just by saying that it gave me the feeling that something is going down?  I never really jumped to any any conclusions - just pointed out that it smelled fishy to me.  Maybe I'm wrong.  Mainly I just wanted to share this with the rest of the CB'ers.  Sorry for any misinterpretations.  I had no idea he actually lived here year round.

A bit of an aside, but it's funny how different people react to fame in different ways. I ran into Mike Gorman once in Kenmore Square (odd that he was walking into a hotel... doesn't he live close enough to Boston where that wouldn't be necessary?) and he stopped and chatted it up with me for a while until I told him that I felt bad for holding him up haha.

On the other hand, I met Fat Mike from the band NOFX once (he's kind of a punk rock legend) and he made it pretty clear that he wasn't interested in speaking to anybody that he didn't know. Sounds like Sheed is a little bit more like Fat Mike than Mike Gorman.

/not really making a judgment either way... I can't imagine what it's like having people come up to you 24/7. That said, there are plenty of famous people who don't seem bothered by it, so who knows.

  • You say when......
Sheed shops at Walmart?!  Maybe he was buying one of those giant tubs of cheese balls to satisfy an evening craving. ;)

(Seriously, though, that's what I'd be curious about; what's in Sheed's cart?)

No cart.  Just carrying a bunch of toys.

BTW:  Do they sell attitude adjustments at WalMart?

Attitude adjustyments...ever go to the walmart in natick...that shopping crowd buys anti-adjustment attitudes....!..Just kidding.. ;D ;D

Sheed was more like Fat Mike during the season too.

Also, my wife and I used to joke that Sheed looked homeless most of the season so this might explain why he didn't have a cart...he was tired of pushing one.

He's collecting toys that are in danger of becoming washed-up and out-of-date, (in bundles of three only), ... it's a new hobby of his, I hear. ;)
